Can’t really see the hanger.. maybe take a picture. But the split second I could see half of it looked bent inwards

Yes, that’s bent. If you have strong hands, and as it’s an eight speed, you can bend it back by hand and just get it somewhat straight and it’ll be all right.

A shop can straighten the hanger in a few minutes. I recommend getting a backup hanger as well. I keep one on hand for all my bikes.
