    Functionally there is more friction from having more housing, but for that length I don’t it’s measurable. My concern would be it catching on a bag, front rack/basket, or fenders if any were added. At the same time, a big old Wald basket could benefit from having more room to play with the routing.

    Basically, if nothing is going to dangle in the front of the bike, and if the fit isn’t going to get higher or longer by any extreme amount, then it’s an aesthetic call more than mechanical.

  2. It takes light about 1.3 seconds to travel from the earth to the moon. I suspect a similar delay for a message to reach your brake pads that the lever has been pulled!

    Only kidding. I’d trim them back if only because i find it extremely annoying when long cables get caught on things.
