Can’t really see what’s on it, but I think that’s an overpay imo.

That white bar tape is an affront to god and man. And if you were talking USD yeah you got, i wont say fleeced, its not that bad, but definitely overpaid.
Also that seat height is sad.

Only you can decide if you’ve paid too much. At the end of the day I’m trying to get my bikes down to nickels and dimes per ride. Only time will tell how worth it it was for you. Until then drop the buyers remorse and enjoy the heck out of it until it’s time to get a new one. Then you can ask before buying!

This is at best a 400 dollar bike considering it’s probably from 2010-ish

Don’t listen to haters here. You got an Ultegra equipped carbon Specialized bike for less than a grand. How well you made out depends on the year and exact model of the bike. No matter what you’ve got a totally decent bonafide road bike. Unless it’s particularly old or there’s something wrong you didn’t overpay.

If you’ve already spent it, there’s little point in mulling over it now. Go ride it and love it.

Overpaid, but not by too much. At 800 I’d want a newer groupset (105 or Ultegra), nicer wheels (what’s on there is basically stock). I mean, even a clipless pedal.
I think you’re looking at a $500-600 bike tops. That’s if the drivetrain on it is fresh, new brake pads, chain, etc.

you probably paid him as much as he did when he bought it nine years ago

Probably overpaid by $200-$300. I can’t tell from the pictures but if it’s 10 speed Ultegra then it’s the upper end of that range. However, if it fits you well, and is comfortable for you, and it’s in good mechanical condition, then after several more years and thousands of miles of riding joy it’s not going to really matter.

Ignore people saying over paid. In Singapore that would have been a great deal as it would minimally be over 1500

Bruh you got fleeced for real.
PS the rear brake pads are installed backwards. That’s a significant safety issue. I’d double and triple check everything on there.

Rear brake pads are backwards.
Upgrade tires when your budget allows.
Lots of electrical tape on that bar wrap.
Is the rear QR just threaded tight or is it flipped tight?
Front QR lever should be on the non-drive side.
Small things, price depends on what’s in your area.
Would I pay $800 for this? Nah.
Is there a place in the world where $800 is a good deal? Yah.
Ride it and enjoy it. Rubber side down.

Bikes are an investment, and this wasn’t a great one. Remember that carbon has a shelf life of about 10-15 years. For your next bike go new if possible, if not don’t go older than 3-4 years.

Not ripped off, but I’m sure you could have haggled more. If you were looking for a bike and didn’t want to spend all week looking at marketplace listing’s like some of us, you could have done much worse. I think you’ll get your money’s worth

Honestly don’t think too much about it. Like you I went in on a carbon/ultegra/rim brake road bike and paid $1300, and while it may have cost more than other used bikes like it, I still consider it a win since my other main option was a $2k aluminum bike with 105, so I was able to put the extra money into a bike fit, better shoes, and more bibs/jerseys

Veteran biker? Setup seems like he either bought a big frame and tried to make it fit BUT seeing as the handlebar is higher than the saddle I would say this belonged to a older gentleman who wanted a more comfortable position. Either way for 800$ it seems a bit steep but hey who knows you might find parts that make the price not seem so steep, I once found a carbon token square tapered bb with titanium axle and ceramic bearings which alone retails for nearly 250-300$

I disagree with most commenters here! You might have overpaid a touch bit if it’s not falling apart you didn’t get robbed. Gatorskins are a 100$+ a pair, and the groupo on here LOOKS to be about a 400$ set in todays market. Making the frame priced at 400. It’s not insanely overpriced!
