I found this Scott Speedster 20 for €1100 (or $1200) at a local bine shop, they claim advertise discount of €500/$540.
Looking to get my first road/endurance bike. Not very interested in racing and much hill climbing. Goal is to do some trips on weekends in mostly semi flat areas and perhaps cycling to work (40km total). Priority is definately comfort geometry wise.
Initially I wanted to look for a used bike, but as I'm pretty much a dummy when it comes to general knowledge about quality, state and pricing, I am considering just buying new.
Any advice is much appreciated.

The same shop also has a Scott Speedster 40 for €850/$925. Advertising a €450/$490 discount.
The 40 has Claris instead of Tiagra.
This is a great bike and the discount is consistent with my shop. We have these same bikes and we’d be happy to let them go for around $1000.
My *only* niggle with this bike is the breaks. They are mechanical disc brakes, and hydraulic brakes are soooo much better. If you can stretch your budget to get into hydraulic disc brakes, you should. If not, this bike is great.
I bet if you offered them $1000 they would take it. Shit, we’d take less than $1000 to get rid of these right now.
