Hope this is the correct place to ask! I got my baby a while back and slowly swapping things out to my liking. As much as I loved riding this crank for the past couple months, I think it’s time for me to upgrade the small chain ring and would like something bigger for a bit more power.
I know it’s older Campagnolo Record, but that’s as much as I know haha. So wanted to see what my I could do –
- Is it possible for me to just swap for bigger chain ring? And does Campagnolo have a bigger chain ring specifically for this?
- If so, where can I find it? I’ve searched and can’t seem to find any.
- Or can it be any other brand chain ring that would fit? If so, which one?
- Or is best my option to just get a whole new crank all together?

Measure the crank bolt circle diameter (BCD) — there’s lots of how-to on the Google machine — and you should be able to find compatible chainrings pretty easily. Check eBay for used Campy Record chainrings, and if all else fails hit your local shop.
Depending on the vintage of the crank and chainrings and whether you want to stay within that groupset, keep in mind that 42 and 52/53 were the predominant chainrings available back in the day. The pros could find much larger ones, but you rarely saw something like a 46 or 48.
