  1. In all seriousness it seems like your technique is fine but that jump is extremely small to get meaningful practice on. Your best bet would be to find or build a small tabletop 3-4′ high with a 6′ long table and get comfortable clearing that consistently.

Then you can work on clearing it at slower speeds by boosting it more to get more air time.

  2. You’re squashing the jump. See how you bend your elbows as the front wheel leaves the lip and you bend your knees when the rear wheel leaves the lip? Also, you’re not shifting your weight backwards to make any sort of bunny hop motion or pop.

So you are preloading somewhat, which is good, but as your front wheel leaves the ramp, you want to scoot your hips back over the rear wheels, straightening your arms as you move. Then, once your arms are straight and the front wheel has lifted off the ramp, straighten your legs as if you’re jumping to pull the bike up off the ramp with you.

  3. Practice your bunny/j-hop on flat and if you have table any table top jumps in your area then go there once you have those down.

For your technique, the timing is too early on the preload and it looks like you’re compressing with your hands too, don’t do that. Last thing, your torso is bending forward when you jump instead of being vertical to the ground, which you don’t want to do if you’re going for height.

Yes go out to the mountains or trails. Stop wasting life on the sidewalk 🙂

  5. If you extend your legs I think you’ll get your body higher, enough to really row the bars into the thighs.

  6. Hell yeah. I’m still inexperienced and I get my practice in at the park. Little mounds and small paths and homemade ramps!
