Hello,
I'm 40 and I've started mountain biking last year with a Canyon Neuron 5 AL (lowest end trail bike). I'm still very much a noob, and that's why I've started taking lessons with a MTB school; cause I want to get better and ride with more confidence and speed.
Although I'm still a noob, I feel like I'm underbiked, and that I should've spent a little bit more on a slightly better bike. The Neuron is a category 3 trail bike, and given the trails I have around me, I feel like a category 4 bike (like the Canyon Spectral) would fit me better.
For reference, here's a video from some local riding a few of the trails that I have around me:
I also have this bike park that I'd love to hit some day (I don't feel like i have the necessary skills yet):
Maybe my Neuron is enough for the first video trails, but I feel particularly underbiked for the bike park. This is something I want to pursue, and because I feel I'm underbiked, I've been toying with the idea of selling my bike and buy something else, like the Spectral. I've also looked at the Torque (category 5) but I feel that one is too much bike for me.
I've only mentioned Canyon models because that's what I'm most familiar with. I might consider a different brand, but that's not point of the post. The point is to understand the type/category of bike that would be more fitting for the type of rides I aim to do.
I could probably keep my Neuron for some more time, until I reach a better riding level. The thing that I'm concerned about, is that selling my Neuron in a year or so at an acceptable price point might be a bit hard. I have the feeling we don't have a good used market around here.
Thoughts?

130mm up front and 140mm back right?
That seems enough to me. Probably just need more experience. Also make sure you suspension is set up right. Check the manufacturer specs on air pressure and rebound settings in regards to your wait, local bike shop can help.
Do you have a pump for the shock?
Ride it till it breaks.
