Hi!!
I’m looking to plan my (very last minute) and first ever tour on my bike for the start of August and lasting 2-3 weeks but have no set date to return. I’m from the states, have time off in between jobs. Just recently got into biking a few months ago so I have a lot of gear to research and buy but Im absolutely in love and don’t think I can leave my bike behind for this trip.
Im considering biking through Austria and potentially Switzerland??
I’m not sure and I’m open for all recommendations and paths and places to stop.
Ideally I would stay in airbnbs cause I don’t think I’ll feel comfortable camping alone yet but it’s something I’ll also considering given savings on costs.
Is this realistic with someone going solo? Will I be able to stop and see places with my bike and a lock? Help lol

Iam a man, even me i dont feel so comfortable Especially in the beginning but if u sleep in forest for a exemple, not close a way, the risk is very little. For the bike can u take it with u in Airbnb is better but Switzerland is very safe in most of the part of this country
One sentence i use it in my head and it will not be good for everyone but i believe it and help me to be a more peaceful is this one
Whatever is destined not to happen will not happen, try as you may. Whatever is destined to happen will happen, do what you may to prevent it. This is certain. The best course, therefore, is to remain silent.

I would start from home for a first trip, and see where it takes you, rather than flying half-way across the world (which to me , goes against the goal of being able to slow travel at the force of our legs). This also allows you to reassess easily the situation If you’re closer to home, if an equipment is not doing the job you want, or if you don’t feel fit enough to travel as far as you’d like.
Goggle solo female bicycle tourers. It’ll raise your comfort level.
You’ve been biking for a few months and now plan to tour for 2 or 3 weeks?
Ok, well you had better get your route and accommodation well planned in advance. Google has a great route planner if you select the cycle option, but don’t overestimate your daily mileage; what you can manage over a few days tends not to be what you can manage over a few weeks. But also consider what you’re going to do if you’re on your own, on a mountain road 30 miles from your hotel, with a mechanical failure, as the sun’s going down. If you’re camping you have shelter until morning, but even then it can still get chilly in August.
