Just finished this quick 9 day trip, which is about 500ish miles. I did Portland to Crescent City a few years ago and had a blast, so I continued on the PCH . I followed the ACA route and it brought me to parts of the state I’ve never been to before. You’re either riding along the Pacific Ocean or through windy roads in the redwoods, never a dull moment except for a few miles here and there. The CA State Park campgrounds were abundant and cheap ($5 for hiker/biker sites). HIghly recommend this route, happy to answer any questions
