If you had asked a Norwegian cyclist where the best bike parks in the nordic countries are, they would probably have answered trysil, åre, hafjell or nesbyen. Few would have answered Harstad. But in recent years Harstad has built up something that can fight for first place when it comes to bike parks without a lift. The park is carefully planned by Velosolutions, an international construction company. You quickly notice that they build differently to norweian trail builders. Here they have not wasted a square meter, and paths go above and below each other. The trails flow well, requiring little pedaling and braking, which is what defines a good trail. This is because the trail builders are very experienced riders themselves which is reflected in the trails. The trails are not only for beginners or pros, but everything in between as well. It is not easy to build trails that both good and bad bikers can have fun on, but velosolutions have managed it. The trails are also equipped with Jerry-traps. often the first element of the trail, preventing people from riding trails they do not yet have the skills to ride. The bike park is located near Folkeparken, which is the closest natural area to Harstad inhabitants. Here are some world-class singletrack, if you prefer that over machine-built trails. But the best thing about the park is undoubtedly the social. The park becomes a meeting place for young people, and since it is completely free, and with great variation in level, you don’t need expensive equipment to have fun. Mountain biking is a very expensive sport, and bike parks can provide a little break from the gear chase that the rest of the sport is pushing on you. It’s super fun. Especially when you can do so many transitions. Those who follow me on YouTube know that I am an avid cyclist, who has not had the opportunity to build up my jumping skills. The first thing that met me when I got to the park was the massive jumps in the freestyle park. Not a second later, there was a Swedish finn who spoke Norwegian next to me We’re here with a camper I saw that there were many trails,Maybe checked out the website, and looked at it. It’s been a big surprise. All the trails have great dirt, Almost like Järvsö in Sweden. And against all reason, I went straight for the big jumps, without having warming up. Luckily it went fine, and we began working our way up to the black trails. The sideways drop, so scary! Is that gonna be a berm? It’s almost finished, they just did it today. This was still under construction, the last part was unrideable in the morning. I think you’re entering there, becuase look at the jump.. it’s meant to land there.. instead of going that way, you just go straight into it. What did you envision.. when you arrived in Harstad? 3-4 years ago we began with pumptracks.. there were only a few trails up here then, old trails. Pumptracks were done in 2019, that one.. halfway done in 2019. Idk what the people who were here saw… they checked the map before they got here, and they always walk the terrain. Try to find good corridors to build trails. And this place is unique, because… Many meters of trail in a very small area. That’s fun. Lots of different stuff. You’ve used the space.. very well. Soon out of space! It’s possible to make one over there. – Yeah That’s the plan. Hopefully. – A yellow one. If you overshoot, you still land clean. You can’t overshoot, or even if you do, you still land clean. Because it goes down, the whole way. So that’s a really fun.. jump. So if I take more speed, I can get a bit higher. So I can get perfect speed to clear the stepup. That’s the plan, I think.

Super video, bra det gikk bra etter fallet på slutten😅 Harstad sykkelpark er noe som burde verdt mer av rundt hele Norge, og flere byer/steder som burde bygge noe lignende!
