I’m installing the Ortlieb fork packs on a fork with eyelets. The back of the mounting plate has slots for these plastic pieces, and the instructions shows the plate mounted with them on forks with eyelets. My question is: what function do they serve? The plate protrudes more with the pieces than without, but if they serve a function I will leave them in.
