day 37 run a bike from the UK to Singapore uh lovely Rush yesterday dodged a bullet with those big storms uh set off this morning got some breakfast about4 10 now the rain’s really dropped the temperature as well so it’s only about 20° which is lovely it’s about 90k to the Bulgarian border there is a couple of big climbs in the way so we’ll just see how it goes today legs are feeling good I’m feeling good and yeah excited hopefully make it to more G today here’s the city of M I’m just leaving and a very rare Shan bicycle bus which I’m sure is going to end pretty soon okay check it later all right stop for a little break look like a little water fountain stop here like an old wooden building um Road’s pretty nice it’s like a roads parallel to the highway but no one’s on it must be like the old the old highway before they built that new one uh yeah there’s the profile for today so we got a few big climbs come coming up but uh it’s pretty it’s pretty well I wouldn’t say easy but it’s definitely easily doable you just put it in the low gear and spin the legs and slowly but surely you start getting up so yeah I’m pretty happy pretty happy with the steepness of the climb uh it’s pretty slow going only going about 10 11 km an hour but that’s okay with me uh still pretty early doors only 11:30 so hopefully in about an hour or two there’ll be somewhere to stop for lunch we’ll have to wait and see right and into the mountains I go climb one done sweaty work I think it went up to about 12% gradient but was all cushy my bike keep like slipping out of gear as well when I stand on the pedals so it’s be something to do with the drail there need to try and fix it really yeah little downhill and then I’ve got another big climb and then I think just a steady upwards climb after that but a low gradient to the border so all good all gravy look’s looking good nice and clean I [Music] [Music] [Music] up woo that was definitely the uh the best Descent of the trip so far felt like I was on a motorbike man topping out about 65 66 km an hour yeah it’s fun really fun woo woo right went to the top of the sh and pass that was another good climb that it’s nice little bit of pushing it was must have been about 14 15% at one point uh two dog attacks you know just barking no biting that was all right another nice downhill that’s where I’ve just come from over there at about I think about 1100 m altitude not too high but looking forward to a nice cold breeze on the way down mind a large bottle of uh sparkling water as well would be nice hopefully there’s backf station at the bottom and uh yeah think about 35 40K to the Bulgarian border then I’m in Bulgaria good day good day today all right back in the valley in the uh town of Perot about 28ks in The Border I reckon about 2 hours probably looks pretty flat along the highway so probably be pretty quick got the sparking water I wanted and a feel good water as well some weird paprika nut things little pack of M&M’s not sure of uh wouldn’t mind like a little burger or like some grilled chicken or something but most of the places only take cash and I’ve only got about 200 da of uh Serbian da current to which is like two three2 $3 which isn’t really enough to get a burger so might have to settle for this we’ll see see what’s going on in the town okay uh just checked into a hotel about 4 kilomet from the Bulgarian border it’s a little bit late in the day really to be uh to be crossing the border there didn’t really look like anywhere to stay and there was quite a steep hill directly after so they didn’t want to get caught in the dark again we got this little room for €20 we’ll do the job I think very old school no light in the bathroom classic um yeah met a nice Dutch guy and Perot who uh was bike packing from Vienna to a place in turkey called Jasper um I think he might be here maybe we’ll get some dinner in a little bit it’s nice to meet another fellow cyclist we stopped for a quick coffee as well and uh he’s going on the same route to eastan buul as well they might be seeing him along the way yeah yeah just went and uh met the other cyclist Jasper for a pizzza and a few beers in a lovely uh lovely bar with a balcony overlooking the valley watching the sunset was delightful uh yeah it was good good to have a little chat interesting fellow and Bulgaria tomorrow
