The 76 crosses not far from home so I rode it for a few miles on this lazy Sunday had almost a dozen cars and trucks blasted by (fortunately all in other lane). Yeah how do you get used to high speed traffic?

That road has no shoulder to speak of, so one never really gets “used” to that. With a shoulder, you just get accustomed to it.
I switched to gravel or mtb and got a motorcycle honestly

You don’t. I wouldn’t ride that road to be honest and people think I’m a daredevil for taking the lane in city traffic.
Agree with all. With no wide shoulder you are just in jeopardy. Find a different location so you can live to ride another day.
Find a different road. IMO, traffic has gotten faster, heavier, and just worse over the last few years.
