I was riding east this morning on my usual route and where [two lanes become one](https://www.google.com/maps/@33.8663115,-117.9813542,3a,75y,109.46h,73.09t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sJ3Lj9a54bQwwDxMzzEdffw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu) I encountered a motorist who IMO hates cyclist. There is three very large white arrows pointing left and a sign indicating fewer lanes, I was about where the arrow is near the bike lane and always look in my mirror for approaching cars so I can move left to enter the bike lane. That’s where I thought I was going to die, a blue Toyota was right behind me and not moving over so I turned right and aimed for the curb. The Toyota hit a parked GMC 1 tonne truck that was parked next to the pole. Three people cam over to check on me and the driver and call cops. I was ok other than the shock of almost dyeing and turns out a woman had video for the cops, my bike did get a flat some how but that Toyota driver lost his car and got a ride in the back of a cop car.

I clicked around that street view link long enough to find that the posted speed limit heading into that lane merge is *40* 🤦 *freakin’* 🤦 *miles* 🤦 *per* 🤦 *hour*.
At that speed, how’s a driver s’posed to notice either sign about the coming change to traffic patterns … or those gigantic white arrows … when they have so-o-o-o-o-o many text messages to scroll through?! ^(/s)
I’m gathering that there was yet another vehicle moving in the left (about-to-become single) lane.
Did you get to see the witness’s video of the incident?
Rest up, fam.
But if/when you’re ready … re-route?!
glad you’re safe. Good reactions, jesus
