So i have few wheelsets for my gravel bike 650b running sendero for when im out there, then a set of Vision 35’s for lighter gravel and tow paths/road and now a set of Vision Sc40 carbon wheels with Gp5000 28mm tyres for road, i can tell you now despite being 1x there is no difference between this and my road bike on the road now, sure your going to pump an extra few watts but its barely an amount you will notice, i put a lot of this down to confidence the slightly wider flared bars for cornering and descending hydrulic brakes vs my rim brakes on the road bike allow me to go faster with the added comfort of knowing i can stop significantly faster…. 18.3mph over 40miles last weekend solo effort over 2500ft of climbing, but i absolutely love this bike and its versatility!!! Keep on gravelling!!

  1. i have a similar setup for my bike. Gravelwheels with 43mm Pathfinders and 45mm carbon wheels with 30/32mm tires. Not ideal, nor is maintaining 2 bikes. Still im on the lookout for a real road bike.

  2. Spara-Extreme on

I have a road racing bike and several gravel bikes. There’s no situation where I can’t tell the difference between them. Gravel bikes are comfortable and road racing bikes are precision weapons that have a crisp feel to them that I haven’t felt on any gravel bike.
