Just went through the same a couple months ago. How did you end up getting it out?
I ended up using a [threaded rod and some nuts](https://i.imgur.com/r93pB0M.jpeg) to keep the bottom bracket tool square.
Ngl, almost jizzed in my pants after removing the BB from my Rockhopper.
