hey guys it’s Monday just coming to the end of my ride now I’m going to be about just under two hours really uh yeah just nice and steady today is obviously had a big day yesterday and pretty knacked last night uh after the race a risk of beating a dead horse uh don’t want to overdo it like I’ve done the last couple of weeks so yeah feeling all right feeling fine today uh but no need to push it no need to do 3 4 hours just yeah just tap out 2 hours low Zone 2 you know feeling nice and under control back at tamide tomorrow so want to be recovered for some intensity you know hey guys it’s Tuesday I’m actually on the west side of of mfield at the moment so I’ve it’s uh it’s it’s 10 to 10 to three now so um this is actually the location of the 25 mile CTT Nationals um which is in like 5 week’s time so going to Recon the course so that I’ll take so it’s a 25 mile obviously so take uh about an hour just an hour and a half steady ride on it um see what the course is like um had had a scout on Google Maps but it’s it’s it’s close enough that it makes sense to have have a look at it and then after that I’m going to uh go to Tam side which is just I mean we’re I’ve already made my way across the beak District so close to tamide as well now so it’s all con it’s a relatively convenient route to um to do it I mean I’ve been planning on doing this for a couple of weeks so yeah just get out on the road bike see what this see what this course is like see if there’s anything major to be looking out for um yeah also going to go to the the the caflon in Stockport to pick up a a tri suit to see what that’s like um CU they only really weird they only have at a couple of locations across the UK and uh Stockport was the closest one and it’s uh U really easy to get to on I mean it’s literally on the way to tame side so I’ll just pick that up on the way but yeah get out on the get out on the roads now right ready to rock and roll pretty sure this is actually the lb that we’ll be setting off from so I’ll just go up the road a little bit and start the ride so hopefully if there’s a couldn’t find any segment but if there’s a segment it’ll get picked up but uh we make the segment myself you know cuz it’s a new course this one but they’re going to I think they’re running a TT next week or the week after on it so uh should should get an idea of the sort of sort of time people are expecting to do on it if it’s a it’s not like a slow course like I originally thought but it’s it’s definitely not the fastest so uh yeah we’ll just get out and have a look what it’s like good fun that might do the same again next week so uh yeah of course of course seems good it’s uh it’s not pancake flat it’s little bit rolling but nothing crazy there’s a few sharp uphill sections where you’re obviously going to have to dig in more uh but it’s not not not too crazy um and the road is generally quite good there are some pretty poor sections of road but uh most of it is pretty smooth um and like obviously you want to be making sure you’re actually looking where you going um because you more need to deviate from being like in that gen normal cycling position and also but also like moving into more the center of your your lane just to get the smoothest sections of road but uh yeah it looks like a good course and it’s decently fast I reckon um a few roundabouts but they’re all like Fast roundabouts and um hope I I don’t know how marshalling is going to work on the day with it I like the course um so looking forward to doing the actual uh actual Nationals in uh in a couple weeks time that’ll be really good fun and I’m going to win it of course we’ll try so yeah like decently hilly but it’s it’s rolling it’s manageable bit stressy with traffic being in rush hour and getting from stock for but uh getting into Stockport was the worst um but yeah um we’re here now got over an hour before the race so get everything ready and and uh yeah get ready to go um yeah it’s a nice day obviously uh really warm so yeah we’ll see how we get on proper European side the cff on that makes sense why um they had the I I picked up a a tri suit it was 40 quid and it’s basically like a skin suit uh and see how that is just super cheap extra extra fre suit probably I don’t know maybe use it next year um yeah just extra thing to have really rough week that that was hard work um yeah definitely not at 100% I’m not I’m not there’s nothing wrong but yeah I’m just I can tell I’m not not 100% but uh yeah still still still doing all right um yeah very early on I launched a couple of attacks and um I feel like I was making the r hard uh but the counter attacks that came after uh my attacks ended up being the decisive one so because I had attacked and I’d been on the front the counter tracks come through I’m I I it’s so hard to respond from the front so you wait for so you have to hop on the wheel of of when other guys come around um so I wasn’t the one responding to the moves um and and splits started happening and the main Breakaway it got established like after my after my attack like the Counterattack after my attack is when the break got established um and I wasn’t able to bridge to it um so that was a bit annoying to be honest I was kind of kicking myself but oh well um I mean I I was probably in the having having just attacked myself it would it was it was definitely the hardest for me to to get involved in that Breakaway so um I can’t be too too annoyed that I didn’t that I missed it but yeah still uh Missing the decisive break is just uh just kicking yourself after that really um but yeah uh for of the Chasers uh we we we became the chasing five I attacked them a couple of times trying to solo bridge but I wasn’t getting separation and I wasn’t making any inroads on the on the main peton so we basically just stayed away half a lap away from the from the from the leaders for for the whole race and yeah just rolling turns with those guys and uh trying to trying to slot on the wheel as best as possible still doing work on the front and after my Recon earlier today because I was obviously get trying to get Arrow a little bit Arrow during that Recon to move at decent speed like not pushing the Watts but at least being in an aor position my TR my left tricep was just screaming oh my God so for like the last half of the race tricep was just stiff as a board I mean my back was pretty stiff as well but like my left tricep was just screaming at me um but yeah managed managed to survive and uh I think I attacked with I was second wheel coming into the last lap and attacked with half a lap to go and held on for to to win from my uh from my group but that was like six or seventh overall so yeah bit annoy just just annoying to have missed that break uh but oh well it happens and like I like I said it’s it was it was definitely hard hard for me to obviously I I could have and should have got into that break no matter what the circumstances were but it was hard for me to to do that having just just attacked myself and end up being rolling back through the pelaton you know um and then that’s when the counter attacks happen but yeah it happens we’ll learn um I mean the learning the learning would be just don’t attack just be a lazy bastard just sit in all the time uh only cover moves never be proactive um but yeah I had I felt like I had a nice opportunity to go for an attack so I went for it and got a little bit punished for it but oh well so yeah oh my gosh right get home now hi guys it’s Thursday just 2 and 1 half hours steady today playing it safe just on the comeback so uh no need to overdo it this week um got a big race on M day so uh don’t want to be cooked going into that um and just making sure I’m all feeling all right and yeah feeling good definitely wasn’t 100% yet racing yesterday but that’s to be expected after the loss of training so main thing is I’m feeling good today and we’ll just continual continually ramp it up for the next few weeks leading up to National so yeah guys Thursday on the trainer for session now uh should be about 90 minutes and then I get out on the bike for another hour after that and do some water bottle taking practice with my mom um did that yesterday that was quite fun because that’s what I was planning to do at the weekend with the the big road race I’ve got I need to take on some water during the race so need to practice the feeding just doing working on the heat the cooling protocol um and I got a session today which is 4 by 10 minutes 3 minute rest uh 40 20 over unders probably going to be down on before but um yeah just have a good crack at it uh see what we got in the legs really uh get the finished get the second finished that’ll be the main thing it’s warm obviously uh full body temperatures uh still getting up it’s not crazy high which is good so I’ve got my warm up done legs are legs are ready to go but I’m not not overheating that’s the main thing so then I’ll take off the Ice Fest and get the session done and uh yeah see how we get on there we go got it done finished the session and yeah uh feeling back to normal and have to look what the power looks like but felt pretty good um I was trying hard I was working hard uh core body temperature got up to decently high but pretty under control really like not into not definitely not into the Red Zone um 38.6 which is like mid heat training Zone really but yeah solid session in the bank so uh that’s already good confidence booster um going into the next few weeks of training the M for Nationals um so yeah happy with that obviously it’s hot today so wasn’t easy um and the cooling protocol seems to seems to be helping even if it’s just 5% like I need all the percentage I can get really um if it’s benefiting me it’s benefiting me so why not hey guys Thursday just got back from Two and a half hour out on the bike um it’s cooled down a lot uh it’s very windy um back to being like normal super heavy wind as we get out here supero uh really exposed out in the peak um but yeah and then temperature is a lot lower like 12 probably between 12 and 10 and 15 degrees the whole ride rather than 20 to 25 so yeah um maybe not getting the heat adaptation I think it’s May to be colder again next week so probably need to go do some heat work at the gym to uh keep up that heat adaptation um cuz use it or lose it sort of thing um but yeah nice nice steady zone two ride um feeling all right after having having a session yesterday uh then I got an easy just recovery ride tomorrow and then uh racing up to two at the week on Sunday so that should be good fun guys Saturday just out on the bike for an easy hour spin uh keep the legs ticking over and then big race tomorrow so uh yeah see how we go there it’s going to be good fun really long day out 200k racing so yeah have to see how it goes really finally on my prox rear wheel after worked out what’s wrong with it got some new parts from China and the bike shop sorted it out for me so yeah that’s in that’s good got second set of carbon wheels the first time in like 3 months or something stupid more than that five also trying out that Tri suit that I got to from decaff on not much padding on it uh but it fits nicely maybe the reduced padding will train my ass to deal with the saddle swords 480 gram of sugar in that one and these ones will risky water actually going to have a spare set of wheels for tomorrow [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] turn come Tom just finished the race and got back to HQ um yeah that was a hard day out but managed to finish it so it wasn’t that be that I’ve actually finished and yeah it’s a hard one like four and a half hours in the saddle um yeah after about 13k I was really struggling getting like sort of cramps in my left side my left glute especially and I was thinking oh God I can’t I can’t be doing this and taking one bottle from my mom already and I’m like okay if I miss I I want to taking another one I’m like okay if I miss this bottle then I’m I’m I’m going to stop here um I missed the bottle and then it’s as as soon as that happened it was like all right switch on um we’ll get it again next lap U so obviously I had no water that lap cuz had one bottle with 480 g of sugar in it that I kept on the bik at all times that’s feed me for the whole rice um and then I just change out my water so um only did two water water changes with my mom made it a lot simpler really um and but yeah as soon as I missed that bottle I was like okay switch on right and I I felt so much better that next lap U and then managed to manag to grab the bottle on following lap so it was all all right at the end of the day um and yeah um it was a hard race but I stuck at it um a lot of people were suffering but um managed to keep it going man to close some gaps when there’s a point where lost lost contact with Convoy Convoy came past um and there was like a I guess a 10sec gap to make up and me and two of riders manag managed to bridge that Gap um to get back back involved with the with the main race so that was very good and uh yeah got round for the Finish um on that final coming into the final lap like um the guys who still had legs left started attacking but you could tell that there was a lot of people in the same boat as me just like I just want to get around at this point so it wasn’t it wasn’t to sit up and wait for someone else to attack to make it easier to bridge it was sitting up because I’m I’m not following that move for the for the final lap so it’s about so it’s 20 laps of a roughly 10K circuit um and on that final lap there was a few of us that just wanted to bring it into guess eight of us rolling into the finish and just just keeping it moving getting getting to the Finish as soon as possible without on on Mega tired legs um and then in the spring I I I kind of thought this the V further away to me onest so I followed a we followed a guy who I thought had gone really early I stuck on his wheel and someone else came round him and then I realized the Finish was really close um so I got past the guy his wheel I was on but I didn’t go past the guy who’ he’d come out of the slip scream so could have probably won that Sprint from the reduced group but him second in it um that was just my fault for thinking the Finish Line was further away um but I was naked can’t blame me four and a half hours in the saddle like 360 something TSS almost 300 watts average 330 340 normalized or something crazy um yeah it’s a mega day out um yeah just glad to have got it finished definitely definitely get to take it easy tomorrow because that is that some big stimulus you know um but yeah good to good to be able to get that done cuz like my my training hasn’t been super specific for getting round road races like this I don’t do I don’t do that don’t do the mega mega long rides the uh 100 mile plus rides uh which would help for would help for this um also I think doing a lots of tempo work and fear too much repeat the work would be um really good for road races but I mean I’m I’m more focused on that 1 Hour Power really because uh 25 mile 10 Mile Nationals like um I guess I just focus on my 1 Hour Power this year and for for races the 4 and a half hours like uh you need you need to focus on that longer stuff so yeah just happy to get around first first not being a hard one at that so yeah hey some got to chill out and watch some proper athletes again come on Tyler B before getting up to the front from the [Applause]

Did you take on any fuel like gels etc in that race?
