


I installed these relatively new tires I bought used. Kenda Flintridge, 700 x 35. I haven't even rode them yet. They're on a bike that I have been tinkering with, haven't got in riding order yet.
The bike has been inside with the tires kept around max 50 psi, but the old tubes I took out of the previous tires don't seem to hold air very well, and so I've had to pump them up a few times. I have recently had to keep it on my balcony, so a bit of rain and a lot of heat as of late.
I go to work on it today and find that the back tire has blown up (for lack of a better phrase). I haven't taken it off the rim to further inspect it, but I gather it's toast. There might be an issue with how the tube set inside, but I don't think that was an issue.
I am just wondering what mistake I made, if any, so I can avoid this happening again. These tires do seem a bit cheap to me. I only paid $20 for the pair myself.

Looks like the bead ripped off the tire.

3.5 bar is 51 psi.
You left it at the maximum rated pressure on the sidewall and had a blowout. Should that happen right at the max rated pressure? Probably not, but the tires weren’t designed to be at high pressure.
It’s your tire about to blow off the sidewall that’s what it is
Baleen is a filter-feeding system inside the mouths of baleen whales. To use baleen, the whale first opens its mouth underwater to take in water. The whale then pushes the water out, and animals such as krill are filtered by the baleen and remain as a food source for the whale.
Possible manufacturing defect. I’d replace.
Relatively new as in lots of tread or manufactured recently? If they are potentially more than 5 years old and/or stored poorly, you can expect things like this to happen at the margins of their capabilities.
Possible bead not set properly and maybe sun on it both softening and increasing pressure a bit as it heats up. Possibly a combo of everything?
you didn’t follow the proper procedure for replacing a tube, what happened is the tube ended up misaligned in the tire in *exact spot* during assembly and you didn’t notice or didn’t check over before airing it up to max psi rating, you then damaged the sidewall from the tube being aired up to the max rating of the tire can take if assembled correctly, but it wasn’t correct so the tube being binded up inside, and at max rating for your tire, ended up damaging and ruining your sidewall since it was pushing on more force and strength in a area of the tire that it wasn’t designed to take or withstand to begin with.
