Hi everyone, I like to ride fast (19ish mph) and climb. My rides are mainly 30-60 miles in distance with climbing, i do around 100 miles each week, and once a month i like to do an 80-100 mile ride.
Currently I have a 10 speed 105 CAAD 9 which needs new cables (one snapped on me) and new brakes (no stopping power) but has nice campy wheels. What I would like to change in this bike are the stem, bars, and groupset. But Im also thinking of upgrading to a 2019 105 Allez disc with the stock aluminium R470 wheels (so I would want to swap them for alloy/carbon TR wheels). The sizes seem similar.

The allez is asking for 1,600 what do you think i can negotiate down to and would this be a worthwhile upgrade.

  1. The newest Shimano 105 Specialized Allez is $2500. I would heavily advise against the 2019 one for $1600, it’s just way too high of a price for a 5 year old bike. If $2500 stretches the budget too much, then get the Tiagra one for $1800.
