Yellow there bikepackers. After years of cycling and hiking i decided to conjoin my hobies and begin bikepacking. Now i planned a route through an area which i already know very well so i decided to spice up the trip a lil and use map and compass.

My kit consists of a handlebar map case, a baseplate compass for route planing, a secondary thumb compass as a back up. The compasess are held in a phone holder pouch which also holds a phone.

What do yall think? Is this good for bikepacking?

  2. I would not keep the compass with the phone (edit – the compass will very likely reverse polarity). I teach map and compass but find a basic GPS and the phone mounted on the bars easier. I take a paper map or print copies and compass as a back up. That said if you are having fun then you can do what you want!
