So I’m pretty set on a NEW 2023 Roscoe 7, for $1,175 USD + Tax ($1,600 CAD). I see that the prices have come down a lot on these over the last year and that the Roscoe 7 was $1,800 USD!
I prefer buying used to get better value but as a novice rider I don’t know anything about parts, components, and wear maintenance replacements, lifespan therefore. So it’s hard to assess value in a used bike. There really aren’t many of these new models for sale used yet in my area either as I live rural so it’s hard to snap up good deals quickly. The other thing is trek lifetime warranty is not transferable to a new owner.
Are there other brands and models that may be a few years older already that I should look for that would be similar to this?
I like:
High quality modern geo frame
thru axle on front and back
boosted hubs
29” 2.6” wheels
I also feel that this level of components is good enough for my level of riding. I’m 6 ft 160lbs and just want something to take around the farm, beach and woods and some trail riding. So I don’t think I would notice or benefit from better shocks, high engagement hub, 4 piston brakes on the Roscoe 8 for example. I would leave some of those things for a potential NEW higher end FS bike if I do the type of riding that demands more, or upgrade this hard tail.
