I cannot find a way into these things. The cap on the end looks like a 4 leaf clover but hearts? There’s no gap under it and the middle bit spins around [very stiff, old grease] I thought this would be easy so left it for last but it’s got me stumped, thanks!

Use a shifter or open-ended spanner 🔧 on the crank, it will remove the entire pedal.

You can’t ‘open’ the pedal without damaging it.
