So I bought cogs individually in order to make myself a 11-19 cassette since I couldn’t find one for sale, but unlike the three smallest cogs, cogs 14-19 don’t have any of that extra bit of metal that keeps them spaces so the chain can actually work, am I supposed to buy spacers? am I missing something?

I’ve never purchased individual cogs but when you purchase a cassette they come with the needed spacers. Typically the larger gears are a single piece. Probably going to need more than 4 to fill up that cassette body but yes they do sell spacers if you are trying to build a 4 speed.
Search Amazon for cassette spacers.
Cassettes don’t really work like that anymore….
How many cogs do you want? You might be able to hack something with spacers, but not recommended
Those cogs likely came off a cassette that had plastic spacers between each cog, with pins holding the entire cassette together. The pins aren’t needed, but you do need the correct thickness spacers between each cog and then sandwich everything down with the lock ring.
There should be plastic spacers that go between each metal cog.
I am not sure but they should be universal, but i would see if you can find specifcally what you need. You may be able to 3d print them if that’s an option for you???
If you don’t mind spending the extra to get the exact cassette you want, just buy an 8 speed cassette or two to get the spacers you need.
I have made a cassette like this myself, but i just had all the parts laying around. It’s called a corn cob cassette, 11-UP one single tooth step between each gear.

Where did you buy the individual cogs?
Go to a co-op and find the spacer drawer.
