Super crappy day on Sunday. On a group training ride hitting some hills. Had finished, stopped for the obligatory coffee, before setting back off home for the day.
Was turning right on a roundabout, and either the hanger decided to give way, or the deraileur hit the curb or something, but the end outcome was that the deraileur ended up inside the spokes.
Miraculously I didnt come off, and was able to get off the road safely.
Pics show the frame/deraileur damages. I havent taken photos but the chain also got in behind the cassette and has done a number on the finish of the hub…still looks like it works, the wheel is slightly buckled but I am putting that down to the fact that the spoke nearest the buckling has a couple of bends in it.
Gotta get the bike to the shop now, to figure out the costs, and how long I will be without it for. I dont think the frame is cracked, so I at least have that going for me.

Sounds like my start to my biking season. 2 miles from my car, I bent my rear rim and had to get a new one, plus got some new tires.
Yesterday, go for a ride and I can’t shift into the lowest gear. Didn’t bring any tools with me on the ride, lucky I was just riding around my neighborhood. Couple youtube vids and I still can’t get it down to the lowest gear, so it’s gonna have to go off to the shop.

Its impressive that the hanger twisted into the pretzel but didn’t break off like it was designed to do.
