additional info: when i pushed the pistons back in around 0.7 – 0.8 mm when i did this. the lever bleed screw wasnt removed when i pushed the pistons in.

it does seem to get better when i pump the brakes, but when i leave it, it goes back to the problem.

it used to work very well before i cleaned them and pushed the pistons back in. i pushed them since i accidentally pressed the lever, while the wheel was out.

yes i have done a lever bleed

the brakes are 3-4months old, only ride around 3x per week

yes i am the poster of this in facebook

  1. posted it here since there are more members, compared to the fb page. none of the top contributors seem to pinpoint the exact problem.

probably got some air in there and it needs a bleed. Get a bleed kit online for not much and get some mineral oil, or take it to a shop and have them bleed the brakes.

I have the same problem and no real answer. Mine have been bled by a professional but still spongy and offering minimal stopping power. Just one brake for me, rear, front bites like a lion 🦁

Maybe only one of the pads is making contact? Did you try making sure both pistons are working? Sometimes they get ‘gunked up’ and will stick down. I usually push them out and back in a few times to make sure they are extending out evenly

  5. There is air in the line but honestly you can buy a new mt200 for like 30 dollars and they come ready to install

I don’t know if this is the right answer but when pushing back the pistons on shimano brakes, without having the bleed cup installed, you can seriously damage the lever internals. That could be the problem here. Idk what the damaged part is called but it’s pretty cheap and can be exchanged. It’s some sort of membrane I think

I think I seen someone on YouTube use a massage gun to move the bubbles.out of the line, might be worth a shot.
