Im on a 150mm/140mm Vitus Escarpe. Now I'm Maxxis Assegai 2.5/Dissector 2.6 but i have a set of Specialized Purgatory 2.4 / Ground Control 2.35.
Would it be worthwhile to change tires for the event? Not looking to podium the event but dont wanna be dragged down too hard. terrain isnt very rugged. High chance of light rain. 1 km vertical.
Thanks!

if you could go with faster rolling tires you’d be a lot happier. Get a fast trak then go ground control front and fast trak rear.
Yep, I’d swap them out. I have run dissector front fast trak rear and was happy with that combo on harder trails.
Racing Ralphs.
As a fast allrounder on my downcountry ripley af I can highly recommend Schwalbe Nobby Nic/Wicked Will in SuperGround.
I’d go for an Ikon on the back and a Rekon Race on the front.
I’ve really enjoyed the new forkaster front and rear that came stock. I’ve heard really good things about Vittoria barzo/mezcal combo
100% worth it to change for the event. Don’t do it the night before – make sure you practice on the tires so you can get used to them.
Ground Control + Fast Track is the right answer. Cheap, probably easy to find, only need to buy one tire. Rolling resistance is the answer when racing x/c.
