hey where are we s France France got down from andur to France through the cloud through the cloud out the other side so welcome back to another race video this time another round of the UCI series mow wish one with take two Sam Andrews I’ve just been up in indor last couple of days doing a photo shoot which has been fun we just stopped to get some lunch SE a salad can’t go wrong nice bit of undercooked rice me yeah it’s a bit crunchy highest bridge in the world [Music] France literally beneath the bridge big so as you can see by the massive massive Bridge behind us made it to malow Sunshine is out we’re going to go and sign on get our numbers and then we’re going to go do a bit of a course [Music] Recon go way [Music] so guys we’ve been on this climb for like 25 minutes and we’re only 2/3 of the way up so yeah it’s a big one glad we did the Recon but guys this an amazing climb there’s all these hair pins all the way up and let me tell you those guys at the front are going to be doing over 400 WTS all the way up here so [Music] done yeah so the sun’s come out which is nice for The Descent but um yeah I can’t wait for that first thing 8:00 start mate 8:00 start straight up that thing it’s going to be brutal it’s going to be Riders all over the road there’s not going to be a Pelon at the top let me tell you that much [Music] feel it in my I feel it in my I feel it in my body my something new is coming over me something new I’m finally go time baby ready for the fight something like that let’s go send it it’s a little bit cold everyone’s warming up on the road we’re going to go get a little spinning got our gels got gloves so here we go wish one gravel in the small town of malao in France only my fifth gravel race of the year but my second UCI won good really really good talented field here with a few World Tour pros and you can see us all lining up here and we were soon underway about decided start in the elite pan I think there’s about 85 Riders on the start little bit of a neutral section here before we took a left at round about this one really fighting for position elbows out and then the climb started a little bit nervous about this one having reconed it the day before I knew that my power would have to be probably up there with one of my best 20 minutes ever just to stay in contention with the front guys and if you’re unsure about what that would require it’s going to be as close to 400 wats as humanly possible for me anyway about 25 minutes so I haven’t got a power late but to give you an example on a lot of these sections I was hitting over 400 wats especially early on on the climb when they were super Keen to force the selection after the race I was able to analyze the footage and I could see that I did 385 Watts for 25 minutes and about 370 I think for the duration of this whole climb for over 25 minutes so yeah it was absolutely brutal I was hoping that that amount of watts would get me in contention and not far off the back of that group but yeah unfortunately me and Sam found ourselves in a group together it was about five of us that got dropped um and we worked as good as we could together to try and limit the before this section so you can see about five guys are coming past us so this was actually the age group The the best guys from the age group who had started 2 minutes behind so about 40 minutes into the race at this point and they’d actually been able to catch us so a massive massive ride from them and some really good in impetus for our group and some injection of pace which basically saw us catching then a lot of other guys who had also been dropped from the group ahead including Nicholas roach and coming on to this Tac section yeah so at this point there is a selection of about probably about 20 Riders it was a really good group and we hit this amazing descent Tac section really some really fast bends and we’re trying to make as much progress as we possibly could into the group ahead before the next climb which came just after this descent and once again uh Nicholas roach actually it was who set a really really strong Pace all the way out that one another 20 minute climb and absolutely exploded the group all over the road then up in another Chase group of about Five Guys as you can see on the screen the middle section of this race was not that hilly but pretty Relentless uh lots of sharp little steep kickers which added up and we were tying through pretty strong but this group of about six probably caught us up um with a few familiar faces and then yeah once we had a few more numbers we were really able bble to pull pretty strongly into the final sections of the race going through the feed here I was surprised at the number the sheer amount of people who came out to support the race and and support the the Riders so that was really really nice to see and provided a little bit of [Music] atmosphere this single track session was really really good I ended up just uh me and Gustav actually uh another Jona resident it was just me and him for probably an hour towards the end of the race doing this this hard section before once again another coming together of a group um we had a couple more guys Chase on from the rear before we took this left and in the distance we could see the famous Mala viu which you can see from absolutely hours around because it is so huge and it holds the the Guinness World Record actually for the the tallest bridge 343 M taller in fact than the Eiffel Tower which is absolutely insane and uh at two and a half kilometers long it is yeah it’s it’s a it’s a pretty cool site and the race actually finishes directly below the bridge so you know that when you see that bridge it is like a big Beacon calling you [Music] home speaking of calling us home by this point we were well inside the final hour of racing and our group was working incredibly well together we were absolutely flying past people who had probably blown up S SL given up and we were making up places after the feeling like I’d let myself down earlier trying to make the most of the day and come away with the best result possible just before this single track section that you can see now one of my shifter batteries died which was really really frustrating cuz it meant I needed to stop out the group I was with remove my battery from my power meter and put it into my shifter before I could then get my gears to work again because the last few kilometers was very hilly and there was no way I was getting up those things in the in the hardest gear that I had so that was slightly frustrating I used the last climb as an opportunity to try and crawl back up a few of the places that I had lost but yeah finished the day well down on what I wanted for the day well outside of qualification but still with a pretty good power numbers a little break of racing for me now as I head to the tour to France with Fon once again a good training block and I can aim for those races later on in the season anyone what is going on what’s I saw your bik at the Finish Line This is a beautiful bike where is it from it’s from Italy is that where you’re from no I’m from UK okay so how did you do today uh got rounds you finished yeah yeah it was it was fun first race in France so yeah it was lovely lovely to be here ni weather good course so didn’t expect to be on the big mic mate did you Sam Sammy boy how was that microphone in your face at least I got something out of this [Laughter] day what the happened no idea M your wheel like fell apart it exploded H I think so I just checked the wheel there was a huge noise and uh three spots were missings i r p you I can and instead of pulling the pin you just thought nah I’m going to I’m going to just yeah I went to the F Zone and my friends took the kind of Cesar and he cut the the Tre spes no way but then you have the head of the spokes inside it’s but that’s grav your rear wheel is like this yeah not amazing but yeah good job that’s that’s the game that’s part of the game on to the next one mate yeah just two real life shells trying to find our car made it back to the car we are in this dark car park we’ve uh we just spent the last couple of hours making our way back to malow and having an absolute Feast I won’t tell you what we had but um yeah back to the car now look at this absolute scene of death destruction absolute scene of Destruction look at that look we’ve we’ve really made ourselves at home here don’t mind Sam just uh sorting himself out this is the this is the after you guys this is a [Music] joke I’m finally finally finally

Ah, love your videography Lawrence, such a treat for the eyes. Thanks for taking us on your adventure, looked like a fun ride. Reckon you might change your batteries before each race though, would be cheap insurance. I'd pack a spare too, for when Sam forgets his. Looking forward to your TDF coverage, a nice addition to the regular broadcast and some genuine insight.
I was just thinking it was time for a Lawrence video. and 50K subs!
gOOD WORK , PS mECHINAL rULES , gREAT WORK SIR
Brilliant vid Lawrence, soundtrack bit "iffy" midway.
View from under that bridge ! Wow ☀️ ❤
What person puts their helmet on before their socks?👀
Great video. You are having a great time from what i see 👍👏
Well done Lawrence , thanks for sharing ! Looking forward to you at TDF ! Safe travels..
Great vid this, really nice edit too 👌. What did you eat though?🤔😆
That start in the pack looked terrifying, well done for a safe ride
Laurence, my dude. CENTER PAN THE VOICEOVER.
Listening on headphones is work. I’ll do it, but I don’t love it.
Been following since Project America 🇺🇸. Keep up the fire content.
Lesson learnt. New batteries before each race.
Looked like a fast paced race! Seven in Nannup Western Australia is worth considering in the gravel world series.
More great stuff mate, well done and looking forward to you TDF coverage 👍😎🚴
The start of that race was so fast up that mtn, congrats. Looking forward to seeing your next adventure.
well done Lawrence – amazing stats there…
Given the lens on the 360 that start looked terrifying. "Elbows out" indeed. Tough luck with the battery issue…pre-race checklist stuff. 😂
Thanks for sharing. Was there any chance of riding over that bridge? Imagine the views!
Great video, a suggestion however would be to look for more neutral or no music; the current selection is very intrusive to the vibe/energy of the video.
Awesome video. What tyres and width were you running?
