AGAIN. THESE WOMEN SHOULD STILL BE HERE. FRIENDS, FAMILY AND THE CYCLING COMMUNITY GATHERED OUTSIDE CAMBRIDGE CITY HALL TO HONOR THE LIVES OF TWO WOMEN KILLED WHILE BIKING THROUGH THE CITY. THE DEPTH OF THE SORROW THAT WE’RE FEELING RIGHT NOW IS. IS FULL OF OF THE LIFE THAT SHE SHARED WITH US. LAST FRIDAY, MINTY NGUYEN WAS BIKING TO MIT, WHERE SHE WAS A GRADUATE STUDENT STUDYING PHYSICS, WHEN SHE WAS HIT BY A TRUCK TURNING OFF HAMPSHIRE STREET. THAT CROSSED OVER THE BIKE LANE. THE 24 YEAR OLD WAS RUSHED TO THE HOSPITAL WHERE SHE DIED. I HOPE MINTY IS TRAVELING. TRAGIC DEATH CAN BE A CALL TO ACTION SO WE CAN MAKE SURE THIS NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN. JUST TWO WEEKS EARLIER, 55 YEAR-OLD KIMBERLY STALEY FROM NAPLES, FLORIDA, DIED IN A SIMILAR CRASH WHEN SHE WAS HIT BY A TRUCK WHILE BIKING NEAR HARVARD SQUARE. THESE CRASHES ARE PREVENTABLE AND I HOPE WE CAN CONTINUE TO DO MORE TO YOU KNOW, KEEP THEM FROM HAPPENING. LIZ PETTIT IS PART OF CAMBRIDGE BICYCLE SAFETY, A GROUP RAISING AWARENESS AND ADVOCATING FOR SAFER BIKE LANES AND POLICIES. SHE SAYS THE BACK TO BACK LOSSES OF TWO CYCLISTS HAVE HIT THE COMMUNITY HARD. I THINK EVERYONE I IS FEELING VY VULNERABLE RIGHT NOW AND AND KIND OF REACHING OUT TO EACH OTHER TO GET SUPPORT, SORT OUT THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE SAYS BOTH CRASHES REMAIN UNDER INVESTIG

This is so Ridiculous. they spend so much money on bike lands and as taxpayers. We are really just getting ripped off. If you really want to prevent these accidents, all you have to do is what we've done in the 60s and the 70s. And that's to have the bikes ride against the traffic. That way, there are no blind spots and nobody gets hit. And if something's going wrong, a person has a chance to. Overt An accident I've been riding bikes in Boston for 55.Yes and that's the way we used to do it and we never had a problem
It's not rocket scientist if you ride your bike against the traffic. You don't have blind spots.I honestly think they do this on purpose.Jess so that they can exploit the situation to get money for needless bike lanes and the like which only slows down traffic and causes congestion
Comments are on, what's the occasion?
