Hi all, first time poster and keen to hear if anyone has had this issue before and what opinions are.
I was in the process of replacing my stem on my Grizl CF SL 7 for an integrated cockpit and noticed something that shocked me a bit. There seems to be delaminated carbon inside my steerer that has splintered. Once I discovered this, I checked to see if the steerer showed any cracks, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
As I have never inspected the inside of my steerer properly before, I can’t recall if the delamination is something that has always been present (since it left the factory) or that it is damaged due to my own doing,
I’ve replaced my stem before for a longer one, but always torqued below the recommended spec (torqued to 4 nm).
I’m going to contact Canyon about this, but I am wondering if any of you have seen this issue and if it is safe to ride as I have an event planned this weekend.

Are you sure that’s not some putty or other goo? Doesn’t look like delam to me, but yeah contact Canyon please.
It shouldnt be a problem if you place your compression plug correctly inside the fork. the plug must be placed inside the tube where the stem clamps on to counteract the compressive load.
Why is your steerer plug so low?
