Hi all! Please feel free to direct me to a better page if this is not the appropriate place. I recently bought this super awesome Trek MT 200 bike (yes im aware it’s a boys bike – i’m just short af). it was really cheap off facebook marketplace and now i’m needing to fix the brakes before i can ride it. no big deal, i would rather pay in elbow grease than $$. however, i am a noob and need assistance. basically the seller said the brakes were too tight so he had to unhook them. sure bud. taking a closer look, i am thinking i might need a few new pieces for the front brakes. first, the screw that goes into the lever on the handlebar for the front brakes appears to be stripped. additionally, the internal break cable appears to be twisted and messed up, it’s ok, i think i can buy a replacement cable online from trek. but do i need to buy a whole new handlebar lever? i can’t tell because the cable is messed up and not connected, but it will just stay open once i press on it.
the back breaks appear to be fine, just need to be tightened like the guy said. i hope anyways.

i’m just worried that i am missing something else? like the little pieces i wouldn’t know to get beyond the cable.
