For example Shimano recommends [Shimano Freehub Grease](https://www.bike-discount.de/en/shimano-grease-for-freehub-50g) for it’s freehubs. Edit: If that grease is thick like general shop grease, you might have poor pawl engagement.
Crash217 on June 26, 2024 5:38 pm I use gun slide grease/oil in the freehub. I don’t think I’ve ever bought any just grab a sample bottle a couple times a decade at a gun show.

That’s too thick for a freehub. Ideally, you’d use freehub grease.
