  1. From the photo looks worn in not worn out, you need a chain gauge to check if the chain needs replacing which will wear out the rear cassette sprockets sooner than the front chain rings.

    When the teeth are too far gone they turn to saw-tooth shape, these are still well formed and rounded on top.

    Having changed the chain you will likely find the rear cassette skips the chain, if so you must also renew the rear cassette. If you catch it soon enough by using a chain gauge to test for stretch in the chain , all you need to replace is the chain.
