Hey everyone, sorry if this is the wrong place to post this question but I am having trouble bringing my bike into the correct position to land on both wheels at the same time. See the video,

Also, I can’t use my feet to bring the back up higher because the seat will hit my butt, and I can’t bring it any lower as it is a low-quality Walmart bike.

Help for a beginner?

  1. Honestly, I’d say you’re limited by the bike more than your technique. It’s not perfect. I think you may be pulling the bars more than standing up to the jump. Compress your legs more, then stand up as you’re going off the lip. However, yeah, the issues you’ve described in regard to the bike are certainly true.

  2. I’d start with bunny hops. Learning those will transition to jumps. YouTube and get to work. If you feel like your butt is still hitting the seat, remove it (just don’t hurt yourself). You’ll grow into it until you can save up for a proper bike

You can cut some of the seat post down to get the seat lower. Just make sure to read up on minimum insert length before you do so. If you cut too much off it won’t be safe to ride if you ever put the seat back up into a better pedaling position.

I would not jump a Walmart bike, a lot of them have warning labels to not take them off road.

Decent entry level mountain bikes start at $500-$1000, and you can find used ones with mid range components for that price too.

Maybe you’re tall but that bike also looks really small.

  5. Try to get some fox suspension. They have the best stuff for jumps. Rock shox is good too but more racing suspension I think
