I bought a peugeot steel bike from the 80s yesterday and wanna turn it into my first fixed gear ride with one of these wheels that you can turn so you have both fixed gear and single speed option therefore i want two brakes on it. it came with these brakes. [Velobase link.](https://www.velobase.com/ViewComponent.aspx?ID=15A8EFBD-1607-48BD-A4FB-29FE1CD1A994) But since I want a flat bar ill need new brake levers and wiring since it was clipped by previous owner. how do i know whether they are compatible? are [these](https://www.velobase.com/ViewComponent.aspx?ID=15A8EFBD-1607-48BD-A4FB-29FE1CD1A994) compatible? thanks in advance for all replies. youre helping out a total beginner here. be kind

I prefer these types:[https://www.singlespeedshop.com/Single-Speed—Fixed-Gear/Brakes—Accessories/Brake-Lever-476/Soma-Urban-Cross-Lever-Brake-Lever-Pair.html](https://www.singlespeedshop.com/Single-Speed—Fixed-Gear/Brakes—Accessories/Brake-Lever-476/Soma-Urban-Cross-Lever-Brake-Lever-Pair.html)
-You might find them too “small” ( two finger brake lever), but they can be found bigger/longer levers
-it’s dirt cheap, and being all metal, pretty much goes with any color frame etc.

-Good to hear that you’re keen on safety, even fixed gear bikes can loose a chain=no brake….
Those brake levers you posted are for drop style handlebars; you want mount levers for flat/riser bars. Those ones which the other guy posted look good.
An old steel bike usually uses rim brakes; [here’s how you can differentiate between the different types to see which one works best for your bike] (https://youtu.be/j6ANuieQR4w

I cant comfirm, but I think mount style brake levers works on all rim style brakes.
