I was recently having problems where my bike wasn't shifting gears no matter what I did. Eventually, I took apart the shifter itself and found the source of the problem. It appears that the piece that pushes the pawl keeps getting rotated out of the way, causing it to not reach the next pawl. I have no idea what I could do to fix this, so any suggestions would be appreciated 🙏
Anyone know how to fix this shifter problem?

Usually we fix this with the shifter fully assembled. The grease in the pawl’s pivot gets hard with age. You just drop triflo or similar on the pawl and pull the pawl back and forth a bunch of times. Like I said you can usually do this with the shifter fully assembled using a pick
Drop some isopropyl alcohol on the pawl you’re touching. Just a couple drops. It will seep in and break up the old grease. Work the pawl back and forth with a pick until it audibly snaps back into place. Make sure the alcohol dries out completely. Add lube. Reassemble
I’ve just realized that I have my terms for pawl and ratchet mixed up, forgive me pls 😢
