Hi guys,

So I reached milan yesterday.

Typing this message down as an information to anyone coming to milan from India, Bangladesh or Sri Lanka.

In summary – it’s a messed up long and unorganised process that will be

After landing in milan, from within the flight itself the announced the names of passengers coming from India and asked us to leave the flight first. There were 13 of us coming from Dubai. As soon as we got out of the flight, the italian police took our passports.

They took us to a hall and kept us there. They prepared a self declaration form for us. Then they gave us a slip for the rapid antigen test. They did the test and waited for the result. After the result came, they took our other documents – the consultare document, the digital passenger locator form , boarding passes from India and the COVID test report from India. They scanned and photocopied our documents. After that they took us to the immigration desk and got us immigrated.

The entire process took about 5-6 hours after landing. So keep that in mind for any further plans from the airport. The police are super mean also. They don’t treat Indians really well at the airport.

Remember to keep your boarding passes safe. Also when you exit the airport, ensure that you get your “entry stamp” from the immigration office as you will need to show the same when applying for the permesso Di suggeremo.

The process is lengthy, irritating and super tiring. Just informing you guys so that you’re prepared.

Happy and safe journey for everyone coming to milan.

PS. I took emirates. So my transit was Dubai. And I landed at Malpensa. I am not sure the process for Lufthansa or other EU flight. Flights coming from Qatar and Dubai have the same procedures as mentioned above.

PSS- it was their first day with Indian passangers. So they were super unorganised. Maybe going forward they might make the system more smooth and easy. Yesterday it was just a huge mess.

Also, in terms of travel from the airport, I would recommend you take a cab. It is a fixed charge of EUR 95 from the airport to almost anywhere in Milan.

You can take a bus or train but as per rules, we are not supposed to because we are supposed to self isolate. Bus will cost around EUR 10 to the central station and train around EUR 13. But you will have to again manage transport from the central station. Which will again be a separate cost. Plus, if a police does catch you, then you will have to explain yourself as to why you are taking a cab, etc. etc. I would strongly suggest not to use bus or train.

I would recommend you share a cab with one more person. That way the overall cost becomes cheaper.

Share.
