Video as an example:

This is Devils Racetrack at Baker Creek, it is my current favorite trail, however the jumps are a bit steeper than I’m used to. I’ve had a couple really good runs on the trail, and a couple not so good ones. I can never seem to get consistent results when trying to jump them.
What I think could be happening is there is too much weight in my hands as I’m taking off, which would be a result of the higher speeds of this trail and not being used to them.
I am good at jumping otherwise, pretty good actually, it’s just these steeper lips that get me

Inconsistent jumping on bigger jumps with steeper lips

I think you’re right about too much weight in your hands. Staying more centered would be best. I’ve kind of noticed it in a lot of your videos lately that you seem really extended and tight which would indicate not putting enough weight in your feet and lower body to help keep your center of gravity more centered and stable. Could be beneficial all around. It’s hard to really tell from the videos and I may be wrong. Hope it’s not taken the wrong way
