Any love for a mid-’90s Raleigh M-Trax?

Went for a shakedown on a new-to-me ride, for you nineties nerds! The police were looking for something in a river near where I work, and they found a few old bikes while they were hunting. They pulled them out, and left a bunch of them on the bank. While there was a lot of crap, I recognised the M-Trax immediately. I had a look through old Raleigh catalogues, and the decals have all disappeared, but I'm pretty certain it's a 1995 M-Trax 1000 Ti! It's a weird beast, it's got titanium top, seat and down tubes, with steel lugs, stays and forks.

Obviously, because it was found in a river, the frame was fine, but pretty much everything else was fucked. I wanted to build a bitsa just to go to the pub on, but it accidentally turned out really nicely! I had an Exage LT groupset lying around, a Charge Spoon on a Zipp seatpost and Ritchey flat bars, and I threw my Kenda Small Block 8s on an old wheelset of Campagnolo Zark rims and STX-RC hubs. Miraculously, the bottom bracket and headset seemed okay, and while I had a bit of a fight with the old seatpost, nothing else was seized. I managed to chuck it all together over an evening last week, and Mrs. Auk and I went for a little roll around this afternoon, to a nice picnic spot in a WWII bomb crater. (She was on her Trek Cali S.) Nothing too heavy duty, just some old farm tracks around here, but a nice ride nonetheless.

It's surprisingly light for what it is, and a really comfy ride. It's a bit harsh over dried mud, but I had the tyres pumped right up to 80psi, I'm sure a little less air would help. Other than that, it's surprisingly quick, it's nimble, and there's a lot more feel than I'd expected for something of its age. The brakes leave a bit to be desired, but the blocks do need wearing in, not that you can expect too much from old rim brakes in the first place! Very, very pleased with my efforts, what do you guys think?
