[Music] [Music] n [Music] a [Music] a [Music] goodness me here we go surprises around every corner this morning it’s D Howard we’re back and we have got Paul and Liz with us good morning good morning I can hear us twice because for some reason I forgot to switch my phone off yes so we want to wel welcome you all this morning and it’s it’s great we’ve got uh we’ve got great friends Paul and Liz are going to share uh the the experience that they have of walking with the Lord and they’ve got a vast amount of experience of walking with the Lord uh and it’s it’s great uh for for for them to uh to be able to share something which is uh which we know will be relevant that we can all relate to but it’s great to see you all again um and and just to see your comments do uh like and share uh if you’ve never seen us before uh where have you been um so it’s well tell them who we are yes I was about to say so that we are a kingdom Advance network from the heart of of England uh in buron on Trent uh and uh the we do uh morning devotions uh every day Monday to Friday uh and uh Sunday worship as well that is it all goes out broadcasting so um uh and it’s it’s good to be able to share together uh we recognize some of the names that have been traveling with us for a long time um but uh if You’ never come across us before uh like and share and we can give you contact details as well if there are any questions that rise uh anything that you think what what what’s all this about and uh what’s this thing that’s between us here um you know representative um so anyway uh without further Ado we will pray well I was just about to say before before we pray before we I was just going to say that um one of the first things I do in the morning uh when I wake up is just to check how things are progressing or otherwise in Israel so that I could set my personal prayers straight and as I woke up this morning I thought October the 7th and I just I just put in the um because you can do this with Google these days how many days has it been since October the 7th and it’s 250 and uh that I think started for the Jews at at um at sundown yesterday so I think they started they started recognizing you hardly celebrate it do you but you you recogn they recognize that from Sundown yesterday it’s a sobering it’s a sobering number to contemplate I have to say as as are all the statistics of what’s happening over there uh whether it’s lives lost from uh you know people who live in Israel or from people who live in Gaza whether you they’re Jews or or not Jews um it’s a sad story from beginning to end and we know that they can always do with our prayers but just before we hand over to Paul and Liz we’re just going to pray and one of the things we will remember is the is that is that fact Lord we just thank you for a new day we thank you that with a new day comes your new promises uh pushed out to us Lord because you always want um the best for us we thank you for that but as we as we enter today we just want to uh remember the folks who are suffering over in Israel at the moment on whichever side of the the Border whichever side of the argument whichever side of the war they are on we know there are many who are suffering and and and they’re suffering uh from all sorts of things Lord not just discomfort not just fear or those things are are very significant they’re suffering the loss of loved ones they’re suffering from lack of food many of them and they’re suffering from uh from shock and injury too and therefore Lord we want to commit them to you today as we set out and ask for your blanket of mercy and Grace to be spread over in Jesus name amen amen fall and Le it’s going to be over to you and you’re going to communion as well I think so yeah yeah I’m going to see if I can get the screen so that you’re big and we’re small but whether I can remember to do it properly not I’m not sure but you carry on talking we’ll do well good to be back with you um Paul Liz Lam from Western super mayare and uh we just thought we’d update you at the beginning because we’re in a new season um I have uh retired from my role as uh Christians against poverty uh debt Center manager and uh I’m still on the radio on usb2 uh but uh a big thing for us is that we’ve made a decision to move to Burton on Trent and we should be we should be we should be joining K as and when we can move uh we’ve got um our our flat on the market at the moment and uh so we’re waiting to move we’re just in that waiting period of waiting to go aren’t we and uh all that all that goes with that as well so we’re we’re in a new season and I think Liz is going to first of all just unpack that a little bit on you yeah um and of course when we think of new season the the scripture that comes to mind is the Isaiah one behold I do a new thing Isaiah 43:19 I wanted to just read the passion translation uh version which says I’m doing something brand new something unheard of but of course before a brand new thing happens questions have to be asked um you know and there is a cost to it and uh and that can involve time and uh you know it’s just like H it it sometimes initially when you make a decision it can take up all your time all all your space you know just your thoughts and your emotions and uh you know the energy that’s involved in that and also um depending you know what the new thing is there can be a cost involved in that and of course it’s a time of transition and transitions isn’t always the best time to be in there’s a a pool kind of between the sometimes you’re kind of you feel a bit in limbo you’re nether one thing or the other you’re trying to look forward to the new thing but you’re still having to deal with the everyday issues yeah you’ve probably you’ve probably got friends around you sort of kind of just sounding boards but but each with their own perhaps biases and wanting to keep you and and some wanting to it is a real kind of mixed emotions isn’t it yeah and uh you know and it and it can cause quite a lot of angst as well especially if you feel God’s called you to do something and other people perhaps feel that that’s not the case um so yes it’s an interesting uh time but of course again we um often to make way for the new thing we have to get rid of the old things so preparation is required and sometimes that can mean a stripping back um that um you know getting rid of the hindrances and and sometimes it’s just you know you have to go back to basics it depends you know what what you’re doing because you were thinking like a chest of drawers that you you kind of I thinking the furniture pain weren you yeah sort of thing got sort of strip it back before you can you know make it all nice and new so you’ve bought this up cycling that everybody’s into you know you have to you have to do a lot of preparation and it’s not just a quick a quick fix things have to be be done and of course with Furniture as well you have to rub down the rough edges so it just made me think you know it’s doing a sort of uh you know just just a look over yourself and thinking okay wait a minute what things have I got to change to before I can embrace the new and of course we all know Romans 122 which talks about renewing um our mind but we can also refurbish and we can replace and we can replenish and we can restore and uh that’s really what we’ve been doing in the accounting of the OM and that’s been a great you know these Reflections have been a tremendous time and a big shout out to everybody who contributed to that because it really was a a real time of of growth for for many of us you know so I just wanted to encourage people that God will protect and he will renew and he will restore because Isaiah says in 434 be because we’re precious in His Eyes and we’re honored and he loves us it’s your favorite scripture isn’t it it is it was that scripture that I was given oh gosh a few years ago yeah well over to 20 20 probably 25 no probably 30 years ago when I was hanging on to my faith by a thread someone prayed for me was probably one of my first experiences of being given a prophetic word where he said God says you’re precious and honored in my sight and I love you and that I held on to my faith by a thread when everything around me was in chaos um yeah and of course the second part um in the passion translation of Isaiah 43:19 it says even now it sprouts grows and matures so again there’s a progression there and uh although you know um Isaiah was talking about uh the Israelites coming out from you know about the past and coming out um The Exodus coming out and crossing the Red Sea but you know God doesn’t want us to live in the past and uh um he wants us to to to bring us to that new place into that new season and uh I was just listening the other day to uh Here Again by Elevation Worship and there was a line in there it talked about you know walking out of the valley and again Isaiah talks to us about great image that yeah you know about making a road in the desert and again before we can embrace the new thing sometimes we need to to move on to get oursel out of out of the valley and and and many of us have been in these places and may still be in these places um but but I wanted to encourage you that another line in the song it says Let Your Love rise above every fear and you know it’s just to acknowledge our fears and our concerns and allow Jesus to love us and to raise us up because is the song says through through our weakness Your Glory Appears and you know I often say God you know I’m not enough unless you come will you meet me here again and I just great song is it great yeah it’s it’s really it does it just lifts you up I love that song and uh so I just wanted to encourage us perhaps if you are going through a difficult season that to focus on Jesus and be expectant of the brand new unheard of because he is our anchor absolutely and and I was just thinking as you were talking about the new season one of one of the things I’ve been inspired by is this book called prayer circles Mark badle and uh I’ve drawn a prayer circle about moving house and of course and a spread sheet probably yeah and all all the beginning the prayer circle was was kind of you know fairly simple you know sort of sell our place and move to Burton but was that simple and and and and several people may know that we got within days of exchanging contracts and then the buyer pulled out because she’d lost her job and and gradually that prayer circle is just it’s just expanded because all around it are all the different sort of circumstances that are still happening so yeah L balls being juggled in the at the minute it’s definitely a new season isn’t it I wanted to uh just develop this idea of of new season uh just by what I went through in in laying down uh my work as as as a Christians against poverty Center manager um because it it meant laying down a role after eight uh amazing and blessed years it’s it’s fantastic charity fantastic uh Christian charity that’s just brilliant to to be involved with but of course the question is how do you know when to lay something down or to take it up and in this case you know Christians against poverty the work that we’re involved with here in Western supermare which was which we established and set up along with all the other churches you know it’s it’s a great work and uh God had given me a passion for that work on many occasions you know I would go to a a Christians against poverty uh seminar that have been espcially put on and I’d end up in tears because the passion was there and clearly God was doing something in me and uh you know then we saw as we made a big transition out of the Church of England into that work we saw God provide for us we saw accommodation be provided as well so you know absolutely amazing and and then of course you know you realize there is an ongoing need in the area and amazing to think you know we were we were meeting that need through the through the establishment of of debt coaching for people in very desperate circumstances but as you continue in any Ministry it’s it’s very it’s it’s healthy to question things like you know we often say and we’re not we’re not sure how theologically this stands up but but has the grace lifted is a question we often ask ourselves in other words is it becoming harder to do the work and it just feels as if as if there’s a bit of a SLO and and that’s so that’s a question we often give each other don’t we as an experience and various things when it’s been time to move on yeah it just you yeah you’ll often say to me do you think the grace is lifted but and and for me personally you know I I’m very loyal to to organizations and people and things and a question I have to ask myself is my loyalty getting in the way of hearing God you know is God moving us on to something new and certainly that’s what we experienced when jod Woods came to to to to can you know that was for us was the moment when God God just arrested US didn’t he and said come on come on guys you know I’m calling you to strategic intercession and we’ve been asked many times over the last 20 years oh you’re going to come there right but there’s a danger of my loyalty get kind of getting in the in the way of that and and also you know when you’re when you’re involved in a a Ministry that is helping people in desperate need there’s also a constant demand that’s there and and and it gives you a kind of if you’re not careful it gives you a force impression of responsibility because you feel as if yeah or is it as if you know you you are the component part that’s got to meet that every need and that’s again really hard it that’s why you got to kind away these things and so you know a number of times in in our ministry we’ve said you know Lord is it time to give this back to you is it time to lay it down and and that’s been you know I think that’s been really a really important question and and and I guess you know my reflection today is is to to to to pray that God will help others that that you know if there’s something that you’re doing and and you’re feeling compromised in some way you know there’s there’s no harm in giving it back to him just laying it down sometimes he gives it back and sometimes he no that be prepared for him to give it back as well so I I U I was kind of reflecting on on this this new season this time of transition and um I I I’ve sort looked at the principle of laying it down and and I’m quite encouraged that the principle of laying it down come comes from the top because because John 10:17 to18 reminds us that Jesus said the reason my father loves me is that I lay down my life only to take it up again his no one takes it from me but I lay it down of my own accord I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again this command I received from my father and a reminder that Jesus laid down his life for us and I think it’s good for us to be practicing this principle of laying it down and taking it up in our lives and that’s what certainly we’ve been through for for the last sort of 18 months as well and um as I was sort of reflecting on it it seemed to me there were there were four states that we that we’re in if if you like uh whenever we’re involved in a Ministry or we’re involved in an organization or something where we’re we’re involved in you can be in one of four particular States so just bear with me with this so the first state is when you’re kind of uncommitted uh you know maybe you’ve just joined an organization maybe just joined a church and you’re kind of resting back a bit you’re observing you’re kind of a little bit anonymous because people don’t fully know you so that’s the kind of first and that that’s okay that’s that’s you know you’re just exploring so that’s why I called the uncommitted state the second state is is when we’re fully committed so you know maybe we’ve been involved in Organization for some time ministry for some time we have a sense of calling we’re flowing anointed you know everything is going really well you’re feeling motivated and you know you’re loving the work and it’s what God’s called you to and you know that and and and season yeah it’s great en enjoy that the third state is when we can be overcommitted uh you know we’ve taken on too many commitments and it impacts other areas of of our life and you know yeah we we’re responding to demand and need uh which is which is great but there’s always too many them in church yeah you know when you’re faced with a constant need is it is it you that needs to that needs to fulfill it so so we we can easily be drawn in and be over overcommitted and so you know we’ve got to check our pules and and make sure we keep in eye on that the fourth state is where we’re [Music] need maybe resentment builds up but how often have we seen that resentment builds up people don’t say anything and and and the people who are get tired and weary aren’t they and also the people who are overseeing it overseeing the work May for them it’s very comfortable when someone’s there so they don’t they don’t want to they don’t want to rock the boat and they may you know they may sort of not not do really what they’re meant to do when they’re when they’re overseeing something uh and it’s more convenient for everyone for you to carry on but yeah you’re maybe in the in the wrong place and um the question for that I want to pose this morning is what which of those four states are you in are you uh are you uncommitted and that that’s absolutely fine for for a period of time are you fully committed and flowing in what you’re doing are you overcommitted or are you misc commm and I’ve got a couple of examples of overc commitment and misc commitment um Moses was overcommitted in Exodus 1817 to 19 uh we see that Jethro his father-in-law paid a visit to Moses and he celebrated the way that God had used him and you know I think it’s important that we do take note if a close relative comes to visit us because they’re probably going to speak into our lives and um that’s what happened here the next day Jethro noticed that Moses was sat a chair judgment listening to the people as they brought their disputes between the parties he was informing them of God decrees God decrees and instructions but in Exodus 18:17 to19 Moses father-in-law replies what you are doing is not good you and these people who come to you will only wear yourselves out the work is too heavy for you you cannot handle it alone listen to now to me and I will give you some advice and may God be with you you must be the people’s representative before God and bring their disputes to him you know I love I love the idea of a father-in-law Jethro uh not doesn’t mince his words does he he you know uh what you are doing is not good um for those of you in education it sounds a bit like an offstein inspection doesn’t it um you know there’s there’s no me to the words you will wear yourselves out others can see what we can’t see and then he says you cannot handle it alone how often very good advice how often is that the case you know don’t we just love to do tasks ourselves because it’s easier to get on with it than to share responsibility and to delegate with others um and you know if you look back if if you step back from this Moses was not doing his best he was in danger of burnout and not delegating to others and uh in other words he was overcommitted and uh you know so those of you who know the story know that Jethro suggested a strategy and uh and and a way of of moving of moving Moses forward to a Point judges and you’ll be able to stand the strain and all these people will go home satisfied so you know a strategy emerged and uh you know God provided Jethro to to to to help Moses in a situation where he was overcommitted and and I love Exodus 18 verse 24 that says something for us all actually it says Moses listened to his father-in-law and did everything he said and I was thinking oh if only we could all be humble enough to listen to what others who’ve been sent by God to direct us say and put it and put and put it all into practice that would be I was just thinking that’s a a great a great picture that you know Jethro gave gave this advice so everybody if you take it into the church context we’re all doing the right thing it wasn’t the 8020 principle you know 20% doing 80% % of the work and everybody went home happy and satisfied see SED there’s a strategy there we go so that’s that’s if you’re overcommitted that’s a good example if you’re miscomi uh an example of being miscomi Community there was great growth but there were problems and complaints and and so you know we we we just wanted to make sure that that sometimes you can you can be you can be miscomputernet 62 it says the 12 gathered all the disciples together and said it would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables and and and and that’s kind a reminder that each each of us have got a different calling but it is important that our calling you know we’re doing the work we’re committed in the area that our calling is and so again a strategy was put in place they chose seven full of the holy spirit and wisdom and you know you know they they moved forward to to make sure that that that they were they were all in the right place Accord you know do doing what God God had asked and you you know there’s also a corporate Dimension to this you know so often I I hear people who say well you know you know we’re we’re um you know we believe God’s called us to this but that there there ISS a silent to what others in in the in who’ve been placed around them are like and so you know it’s important to to just to just open our eyes so you know if you’re if you’re mcomm you you need to turn the responsibility over to someone else and but do it in a in in a great way do it in a in a way that consults with other people there’s no urgency you’ve been doing it for a long time you know just do it with your leadership do it do it with those who you know who you respect those who got some right to speak into into your life and and and make sure that you get yourself into you know an aligned position so I hope that’s just helped this morning you know just for people to think you know you know and that’s certainly my reflection as I’ve given up you know you know I’ve laid down something the need is still here in Western super I’m pleased to say that someone else is still continuing as a debt coach to do the work so it’s not it’s not completely come to a Hal and and they are trying to find some someone else to do it as well so so but you know we we do need to reflect on on that don’t we so I hope that’s that’s helped and I think I was just thinking about the rubbing of the the rough edges you don’t want a a round peg in a square hole because it just causes a block doesn’t it anyway I think we move swiftly on for our communion so if you’ve got your your bread and wine or or or juice uh let’s just have a a few moments just to um reflect so father thank you for the New Covenant that you’ve made possible only through Christ’s atoning death and Lord as you did we take this bread and we give thanks and we break it and we remember the sacrifice that you made on the cross for us thank you Lord amen and Lord in the same way we take the cup remembering the New Covenant your blood that was poured out for us thank you Yeshua amen amen thank you Lord thank you for your hand upon us Lord I pray for all those are watching this video Lord that U whatever situation we’re in you would continue to guide us you uh remind us of your calling for those Lord who are mcomm or overcommitted I pray for bravery and courage to face um getting aign with you in Jesus name amen amen amen thank you so much lovely oh such a word in season isn’t it and it follows on um from the the 50 days of counting the OM because it is it’s all part of you know questioning I think it is good to question very much you know I’ve often wondered though about the life of Jethro and um because I guess he came from being a midianite or a kenite priest and probably worshiped many gods and then you think well you know what was his journey like because I guess it wasn’t till Moses climbed up and saw the uh burning bush and returns home back to his wife and his father-in-law that they actually be in you know that Jethro began his journey thinking you know who who is this who is this God you know and um it would be you know great to sort of walk that Journey for of Jethro coming from that far away to the point where he could actually advise you know what for us I guess as one of the most amazing men of all time as well as Moses being gracious enough to to take his advice it’s a it’s a amazing amazing I think we got lots of questions to answer to to ask when we get up there haven’t we that’s right that’s right oh thank you so much that’s just been brilliant I can see from the comments that have gone up people have been appreciating it and uh wait for all the resignations to happen for people who are overc committed no that that was that was a joke folks please don’t don’t say that to heart I I am sure Paul is not saying that we need do things unreasonably if we feel that it’s time to pull out then we do things constructively and in order so that we we pave the way for a new season and that is that is great and we we’re looking forward to seeing you in Burton on Trent when when this the Lord’s timing for you yes absolutely yeah folks um before we sign off uh just to say that this Sunday in house we have um Mark Curtis um from Passion for Jesus Ministries amazing amazing man amazing um uh Apostle uh he works across Nations great time we will have together we always have Mark and we’ve known Mark for you know many years now and we will be appreciating that time with him if you can’t join us then it will be uh it will be broadcast online and we’ll be pleased to see you uh just to say if you are not ever so used to us uh and you’re wondering uh oh you see now I was going to say right you can you can find us um you can find us online at um www.k n.net and um you’ll be very welcome here we are I found it now now I’m not looking for it I found yeah any questions any any questions about a man who can do two things he can speak as well as operating a computer did you notice that this is called multitasking things that apparently men can’t do do happen we are just here to prove that wrong uh okay everybody bless you so we’ll be back again tomorrow morning we will we will 8 o’ okay have a blessed day all yeah byebye bye-bye by byebye now
