hi there my name is Scot Arthur and right now I’m the transport environment committee compuer here in Edinburgh and today marks the end of an era because the CC well active travel scheme has been completed and was formally open today by some local school children uh fantastic event uh so this project has been 10 years in the in the making it survived three Council administrations two elections a legal Challenge and cuts the council funding uh but here we are 10 years after it started uh it’s now complete and I think the fact that it was able to overcome all those challenges tells us that is a much needed project and there must be something fundamentally good about it and it really is quite an impressive project it is wor wor worth having a look at I mean it is without a doubt is one of the best schemes in Scotland in terms of the quality of the design and whilst uh it’s end of an ER seen it be complete it also feels like we moving into a new one because it’s a bit of a Tipping Point as well cuz what we’ll see in the coming months and years is more schemes like this being delivered just trying to make walking heeling and cycling more attractive and safer to people right across the city so the the roseburn to Union Canal scheme should get completed this year and uh we’ll also start work on West edur link and then the former legal processes are also should get underway for George Street and also medals to George Street projects uh so just to list a few just to give you a feel for the pace and scale of the ambition for uh sustainable transport here in in Edinburgh so so it’s not the best day for a launch of course it was a bit damp and uh and miserable uh but nonetheless this is certainly worth visiting so you’re in this part of edenburgh the the the route really runs between roseburn uh to the city center uh it’s worth of a l but maybe Pi a slightly better day than today okay by for now
