  1. i just dont get USA.
This is intentional. Run them over and then continue going. This is like attempted murder.

  2. Not familiar with Texas law, but would a cyclist be allowed to fatally shoot that driver after this happens?

  3. Hits two people, rolls over one….attempts to drive off.

That’s worthy of serious jail time, and permanent revocation of drivers license.

  4. I hope the license plate is pulled from the video. This is the most egregious act of violence against cyclists that I’ve seen. There’s no way to design around intentional behavior of causing harm. They’re clearly riding in a group in broad daylight so there’s no way they weren’t visible.

  5. Well the jeep on the right breaks suddenly too, maybe there were in argument/dispute already with white subaru?

The fact that they stopped and then chose to keep running over the person is wild.

I grew up in Dallas/Fr Worth and can say from first hand experience of being a cyclist there for 6+ years, it is an absolute hellscape for cyclists (fight me Dallas chuds I don’t care, your city sucks).

I had everything from milkshakes, glass bottles, full beer cans even sex toys thrown at me. Aside from a couple of parks with designated trails and a few streets downtown there are very few bike lanes in the area. Most of my riding was on feeder roads of highways. I actually rode the airport loop depicted in the video.

Roads have super high speed limits and people drive massive cars. They don’t move or give you any room, and instead buzz you at 50 mph. There is a reason it’s called the “Hate City.” I hate Dallas that city can burn, I will never go back.

  7. A cynical take: the most likely citable infraction is driving away from the scene. Otherwise, the ramming itself will go unaddressed and unpunished. My guess is intent is hard to prove and no prosecutor will go after it. From our cyclists point of view, the best outcome would be if they’re able to find the perp and dig up some other warrant/dirt on them.

Do any locals know if both riders survived? For their sake, i hope they survived with no major injuries.
