URBAN DOWNHILL IN GERMANY IS EPIC!

Its day 2 of our ultimate free ride MTB road trip where we are travelling in my converted Volkswagen Transporter and we have just hit Cologne, Germany!

This video consists of urban downhill riding where we hit some super fast and long stair sets, full speed drop and gaps as well as riding some trials lines. One of the stair sets we rode was famous from a Fabio Wibmer clip!

Cologne is an awesome city offering beautiful views, lots of history and most important for us… its an urban bikepark! Urban riding is great for bike skills weather you are a beginner or and advanced rider… there is always something you can learn riding the streets!

what’s going on guys welcome back to another video where today we find ourselves in cologne germany the road trip continues and this place is full of insane urban scents which is why we’ve got the e-bike out we’re on an urban mission and as well as the urban sense there’s also insane views and monuments like this massive castle cathedral sorry behind us i’m excited today i think it’s gonna be awesome so let’s get the gopro on and start this little session we’re also joined obviously once again by cara you’re right yeah i’m fine how are you i’m very good yeah you enjoying the weather loving the weather this is literally what my favorite like just off the sun basically and we don’t get it much at home so it’s a treat what are we doing now then we are finding some stair sets to ride down and some other urban features oh trials line yeah perfect look at this a nice curved doomer nice mellow one to start the day although it’s quite shaky obviously i’m sure cara is going to be loving this experience you nice how’s that yeah that’s very good isn’t it look at it it’s like a perfect perfect one yeah nice find something else yes there right we’ve just come to the stair gap and tom is going to send it but we’re inbound for the first stair gap of the video then you are into the rock on oh god i’m glad i’m on the mountain bike list you want to take like a road bike another stair set then we can drop off into the street you that’s so good from one awesome staircase straight into another but this one has a stair set straight after it so it’s gonna be double and then drop off to flat [Applause] right next stair gap then let’s get it [Music] oh that was so sick what i said they were long actually weren’t they like the run-up sorry i spoke over there but the run-up wasn’t very good coming in huge send long fast gnarly we’re urbaning today and i’m stoked let’s carry on it’s actually so nice here cobbled streets it’s like old-school german what i’d imagine jeremy to be like let’s eave up this stair sitting down look just finding things everywhere yeah does cara’s time to shine this is a mini stair set for her yeah nice one kj that’s sick over the bars whoa what is that [Music] one earth look that’s sick wow what if you can hire them check this out that’s the most perfect spiral staircase i’ve ever seen i can’t wait to shred down it let’s get it oh it’s tight actually i’m gonna have to trials my way around there yeah let’s have a bit of a better line it’s like not the steepest staircase but it’s insanely tight which is making it tricky because i don’t like jackknife get the bars stuck and be catapulted down the steep inside look at that that’s a mountain bike on full lock coming down there that’s tight they’re really tight sick fine though i love a good spiral we’ve come across the perfect urban drop there’s actually a bit of a line your trials up then you get into this wall and there’s like a hit drop into this perfect landing bank which well it is perfect but it’s also not because someone’s been smashing bottles and there’s the whole landing is covered in glass i’m still going to send it hopefully first of all i don’t crash on the glass that shouldn’t happen but more importantly or my biggest concern is the fact that i’d only get a puncture so we’re going to take the chance because it’s such a good line i don’t miss it and just keep our fingers crossed but it’s actually quite a technical entrance to it like where do you go there and then oh wow that was actually really big and heavy it was a hard landing i expected how was that from your view so good yeah working all right yeah it’s a good line actually shameless glass but it’s working nicely should carry on yeah are your tires still up five no punches it’s my turn to get involved now and i’m not like urban isn’t my strength but i’m gonna try and drop off this it’s only like that high it’s not that high so it’s pretty safe which i’m happy about but we’re going to capture this lovely scenery behind us as well taking a quick break from riding to refuel and when you’re in germany you can’t not have a schnitzel look at that so insane what have you got cara i’ve found boring and just got a tuna salad but at some point i have to try schnitzel apparently we’re going to eat this quickly and get on some more urban free rides ending it’s time to burn all that food off now and there’s going to be no better way than to tackle this trials line which is actually quite high it goes up in three steps they’re about this high at the highest point which is below waist height that’s quite hard to get the e-bike up so let’s see if it’s possible right trials line inbound this first one’s a little bit smaller yes we’re up oh god we gotta get down now on the e-bike which is massive i don’t really like doing drops to flat on the e-bike it’s just kind of pointless but it’s the only way that line would work it’s sick yeah let’s move on the next spot is actually one we didn’t even know it was here but i’ve spotted it and recognized and it’s one that fabio wimmer rode and he actually on a normal bike rode up these stairs which is insane the actual ones he rode to the other side there’s a kid’s festival so we’ve come to the other side there’s a set identical and i’m going to try and replicate his clip which was to ride up and then gap back in obviously i’m on the e-bike so if i don’t make it i’ve got no excuse but car is halfway and we’re about to get it here we go i want to make sure i’ve got a low gear selected then for this climb we’re dropping up oh my god perfect right we’re up spin around we’re going back down clear dropping in [Music] oh that was sick it’s kind of scary because it’s like a peaceful restaurant area everyone’s eating and then my e-bike just like grew down the stairs that was cool what i find a long stair set let’s see if we get car to come down actually that’s it fancy gapping into it or not no actually that was quite scary the stairs that we did at land graph were easier i think than that because they had definitely yeah yeah yeah like i felt myself getting quicker and quicker at the end because my brakes were like getting hotter but it’s still cool we’ve found another stair set but this one is actually quite simple but it can be made complex by utilizing this wall and the rail let me jump up there and show you here’s the gap so you’ve got loads of space up here you do not want to go down that side along here off the wall into the stairs sideways and dodge the car quite a tight setup which is making it gnarly but it’s definitely on so let’s get on the bike and have a go at it thank you got it it’s really quite scary because the blind run-up look off there and you’ve got to be careful because you don’t want to get your pedal stuck on that you die here we go then that took some precision there to go in between the posts if that was me i’d go straight for that but to be fair i actually wouldn’t even do that anyway so yeah that’s it one final challenge left in this one up onto the wall and then try around that corner along and then that drops off perfectly into the downslope let’s get it that was sick it was actually way shorter run up than i expected on there obviously one of those things it was quite a big drop in the end just like that day two of this trip is in the bag what an insane day it’s been cologne was only supposed to be a quick stop because we’re on our way to winterberg which is why we’re packing up and leaving now but it actually blew all expectations out the water it was way more than i thought and to be honest if we had more time i would really like to check it out and see what else we can find maybe get the jump bike out kick a ramp see whatever lines there are
