Hi there! So I just installed this with a new pushrod. At first it seemed like it had some issues pushing into third so I lubricated the housing for the pushrod and with some working back and forth it transitions smoothly to the innermost point.
The main issue I’m having now is it doesn’t seem to go into third. First is fine seems like the ratio when the shifter is off, second seems to be a harsher ratio from first that maintains speed, but third doesn’t seem to change when it clicks in, and I can’t feel a transition in ratio. Perhaps it’s very subtle at speed, but I don’t have enough experience with internally geared hubs.
The pics above show first, second, and third. I ordered a 86mm pushrod per Electra’s spec sheet on their website as the previous one was missing. This is their “Betty” step-through bike. The shifter and cable housing are new. The cable housing has no slack and the cable was pulled tight on second gear for adjustment.
If anyone has any tips or suggestions I’d appreciate it. I doubt this hub needs a rebuild, but it’s possible, as this was donated to me from a neighbor and stored outside. However, I’m told internally geared hubs are bulletproof.
Thanks!
