The Oakley line at DyfiI bikepark is NO JOKE but how difficult really is it??

Dyfi Bike Park is one of the largest bike parks in the UK built by the Athertons offering a whole host of downhill MTB trails and huge free ride jumps. I have heard nothing but good things about Dyfi so I decided it was time to go and see it for myself!

There are some of the most difficult trails in the UK at Dyfi Bike Park ranging from huge, fast gap jumps to rock gardens, technical drops and root sections. I started off by riding Lovey DYFI into Super Swooper to warm up before spending some time working ou the famous Oakley Icon way jump trail which I was STOKED to get a full top to bottom run on. Finally I had time for one more run and chose to ride el hippo.

In this video I am riding my fully custom Haibike electric mountain bike upgraded with Halo Wheels & Gusset components.

here we go then big Oakley drop what’s going on guys welcome back to another video where today we find ourselves here at Duffy bike park it’s our second time visiting which I’m so stoked for because this place is epic and I think we got a big day coming up we’ve made it to the top then here at Duffy bike park what an epic view just full of insane Trails which I cannot wait to ride conditions today seem almost perfect it’s windy up here but we’re very high up so once we get down into the lower section that could be good for hitting some of the jump lines which we wasn’t able to do last time but for now we’re going to have a warm up on lovey Dy we’re riding theara it’s the easy track here but as we know this bike park is quite difficult so let’s get into it and see what it’s all about oh it’s kind of scary cuz this is quick and I don’t have a clue where I’m going down it woo speed here is so good yeah nice he oh my god wow that was incredible first one in the bag it’s scary a lot of the bike parks we been to recently we know the lines really well so you can just get there and get straight on whereas when you’re going quite quick down something which you don’t know what’s coming it gives you like a weird feeling how did you find it scary to be fair but it’s just so fast and slip pre and just steep we’re actually going to make it back up now and I think we’re going to go halfway and see what the wind on that’s like on the jump lines oakle L at the top of it you coming down to have a look yeah just to look yeah all right yeah no riding for you on this I’ll meet you down at the drop C in yeah sure here we go I’ve never actually looked at this line cuz well that’s a step down to clear there it’s got like some little T here okay here we go then nice that’s pretty big let’s get your reaction oh there’s no way oh I’ve got a jelly legs there you are don’t you like it up here oh my oh my God should we ride it I’ll do I want to do both I’ll do the little one and the big one oh my God car is not a fan of that I’m going to do the little one and then the big one soz I actually want to ride both and that’s a good warmup here we go then let’s give this little one a go nice we got a big sendy step up there all right let’s go back and do the big one here we go then big oakle drop oh my God I nearly missed the burm oh my God oh my God he almost went over the top of the BM that’s not good I wanted to go to the right because it’s smoother but I went really deep and then went too far that’s my line if you can see that my back wheel was on top of it right second go let’s see if we can get a little bit better I’m not going to go hard right this time and a little a bit slower yo so clear this nice unfortunately the middle bit there was shut because someone has had a crash on the second drop so we’ve come down El hippo and made it onto the bottom half of Oakley which is where the biggest jumps are and they’re pretty size the thing I find scary with these is they’re actually step Downs like I’m on what would be the lip to make it a tabletop but off of this lip it’s like the one that gives you a big boot but it’s a step down which is like all the lips here like that and they just kind of make me a bit skeptical I’ve never hit anything that length with a step down it feels kind of weird but I’m going to ride the tabletop first that one into the tabletop and then we’ll see where we’re at for hitting this big a bit here we go then let’s see what this is like time for the big dog yo even if that little ramp is quite a pull you SI so I just hit the bigger lip and because what I was saying like it’s a step down I landed so aggressively that the I got a front puncher you never hear the front blowing out do you that’s crazy right we’ll fix that and we’ll go back up cuz we’ve not looked at the middle section either yet punch is fixed the Lin’s back open I think they had to get the air ambulance so really hope that whoever crashed if you’re watching this I hope you’re all right if not I’m just sending some healing Vibes anyway I think we can now get a full top to bottom I did come up after lunch and just scope the middle bit out so I knew what was on it and we’re ready to link it all together so I’ve been waiting sa this for a while but this is a top to bottom run on the Oakley line here at Duffy bike park here we go then Oakley Icon way Duffy bike park let’s get it right the big drop yo you nice big clear there yeah right into the second drop then this where you can like regroup in the middle a [Applause] bit oh that’s heavy yo nice now feel good you who that’s a big jump you okay here we go then down into the biguns oh yes I didn’t go that high out I don’t to blow my tire up let’s carry on down I wonder if you could Gap that whole thing you I don’t like this jump I want to get the speed for the last that just send you up yeah there we go Oakley Icon way top to bottom it wasn’t perfect and I on the last jump I actually I’ve never felt the limit of 160 mil travel I’ve put this bike for its Paces but that line it’s Landing aggressive even when I’m landing perfectly and that last jump if I hit it hard higher than I did up the thing I mean I already blew the front tire up when we was practicing if I go from the top I think 160 mil is just the tire is going to explode again which obviously I don’t want to do it’s almost the end of the day we’ve got about 10 minutes left so I’m going to go get another lift and just see what track we can do maybe turns in the ferns or something like that so let’s make our way back up we’re back up then for one more and I’m going to choose L hippo it’s the only track when Oakley was shut earlier we had to divert and roll down El hippo so out of the options here is the only one which I kind of know but I’m still hitting it quite blind so let’s see because it’s work in progress we can come back and perfect it next time let’s see how we get on for a first rund down here we go then El hippo oh cool got that one case the first one quite severely [Music] that’s wet in there there we go then we’re back down with a couple tea the lifts are finished so that means that it’s the end of the day and what a sick day it has been this bike park is not only big in size of the features and how Technical and difficult is to ride but it’s big in scale and size there’s a lot of tracks and we’ve only got a day here so I put a lot of my time into dialing in the Oakley line it’s really tricky when you got no one here to see ride it and to reference for Speed they’re quite big jumps did you have a good day KJ yeah I did I really enjoyed it I feel like I’ve not smiled that much on downhill riding than I have today yeah I really really enjoyed it and you should go   2. Can't beat a dyfi trip. Its got everything. Shared an uplift with you the first time in the wet 😂 get that ebike up the ridge line 👌

  3. Love the respect shown for other riders, speedy recovery to that person. Blowing out the front on a heavy landing is nuts. But that big drop where you almost went over the berm was bonkers. Some very serious looking jumps there Tom. Kara looks more settled on that techy trail at the end there. She's going to be a rocket before too long you won't be able to give her a head start on your races.

  4. Thanks for the recovery wishes Tom! That guy was me and sorry I disrupted a nice TTB run – you were hitting the jumps so sweet!

    I was looking forward to mega day and a half with mates and made a stupid mistake going in too slow on the bridge drop. 🚁 to hospital and had emergency surgery on my broken and dislocated pelvis (now nicely full of titanium).

    Totally gutted to be out for so long and missing a Morzine trip we had planned for a few weeks too 😫

  5. Love how you were tentatively riding down the easiest red trails then somehow ended up on lower Race Track (double black) on the first lap. Must have been spicy! And you can definitely quad that on/off, give it a go next time you're there.

    It's good to see you challenged. I'd love to see you tackle some of the really gnarly tech like Fire in the Booth and Slab Track next time.
