I fixed up a bike and wanted to share the stoke.
This is an old bike. I used to ride it 20+ years ago as a teenager, so it hasn’t been used since.
Fortunately, it held up very well and most of the components still worked. Rust did not settled on any of the major parts. Chain still intact, gears still turned, gear set were ok too.
What I mostly did was clean the bike up, fix one brake whose spring didn’t activate anymore, and fish out and reposition the handlebar stabilizer which detached on trying to adjust the handlebar. Otherwise I oiled and lubed the chain, front and rear gear sets and most of the screws when putting it back together.
Just took it around the block and it works well! I’m going to slowly try to go further and see how everything holds together.
Anyway it was great fun taking it apart and putting it back together!
