  1. $225 is a very good bike for most Allez’s. But it’s also not a beginner’s bike. If you’re trying to get some fitness in, look for a hybrid bike, not a vintage road bike.

If you really want the bike, it’s only $25. It’s a 22 year old bike so it’s probably fine for commuting but you’re not going to be winning any races on it. Especially hard to tell the quality without any pictures or more info.

If it were me though, I’d say screw that guy and wouldn’t give him the extra $25 because I’m stubborn and love bartering.

  3. t’s very difficult to find any functional road bike below $300, so without seeing pictures of the bike I have to assume it’s you that is “crazy”.

He is definitely not crazy. I honestly hate it when people nickel and dime sellers on a fair deal as buyers. He is being totally reasonable.

My 2c, I really want both parties to leave a sale happy. Of course if something is overpriced I will try to negotiate but no, I’m not going to try to get $25 off the top just to feel like I’ve got the better of the seller. The bike, assuming good condition, is certainly worth $225.

  5. 25$ 😂 if you want the bike pay 225 if you didn’t then don’t. It’s 25 bucks hardly worth bargaining over.

I have a Lemond Buenos Aires from about 2003. The whole build cost me $150. Old steel road racer does everything i need ! Consider the $225, bikes can be far more expensive.
