right before your eyes step by step you’re on your way you’re welcome to Bri to day don’t you know it feels good to be alive you could be larger than life bigger than the world living out the hopes and dreams of every boy and every girl you can fly higher than the sky shine brighter than the Stars you can live for you [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] want and dreams every you higher than the sky shine better than the star we have for you you know you’re [Applause] cool gut tag from Cologne Germany to all of you out there from up to 33 countries worldwide I am Sarah and I welcome you to the action with African challenge 2024 scaling innovative business ideas with positive scg impact across the African continent thank you so much for joining and engaging with the enactus community worldwide however what would a top 12 announcement be without the energy of a live audience so give it up the 500 enactus students alumni and judges here at the enactus Germany national competition Make some noise [Applause] first for more insights into this year’s challenge welcome on stage Karen F and tobas Dada Life bigger than the world living out hopes and dreams of every boy and every girl you can fly higher than the sky shine brighter than the Stars hi thank you so much for being here with us Karen from the German Federal Ministry for economic Corporation and development hello it’s great to be here great to see you all thank you so much for being here because with without your ministry strong support action with Africa would not be celebrating its third anniversary this year so what is your personal impression of this program Karen oh um I’m I’m overwhelmed um I just saw the national competition teams and um really this the spirit of entrepreneurial um yeah um Talent this is here that would would is um supported here is really great and I think um when you see the challenges but also the opportunities on the African continent it’s really a great place also to be an entrepreneur and we all know um there’s I think 25 million jobs needed every year so it’s clear you need the entrepreneurs you need the young people to create these jobs and this is um what my Ministry wants to support in this um yeah in this Spirit we are a little bit bit like like an actus we enable we don’t do aid but we do structures that support others to be um talented and to develop their ideas absolutely so toas project manager at anus Germany what would you say how’s it going this year with the challenge well just let’s briefly take a step back for those who don’t know actually AF just to say it it’s an international competition for projects on the continent of Africa you probably got that already but we have many many entries I give the number shortly but it’s a competition we get business plans we get a pitch video and then we had an evaluation round that just finished and today we’re here for the top 12 announcement so there’s more coming up and we had 137 projects so approved project that went into the judging phase so that’s a new height actually a new record for us in the third year we had 140 judges who reviewed all the entries and well of course I hope everyone had a lot of fun so today we learn who made it to the top 12 absolutely and this amazing number of entries deserves a big round of applause I think we broke the record this year so Karen coming back to your ministry how would you say does action with African align with your ministry’s aims I mean um you mentioned that we’re the ministry for economic cooperation and development and I think this is really also the yeah the correct um description we try to um make structures that enable others I already said this and so an actus is really um yeah a competition and also a spirit and a way of working together that really fits in our strategy which is um not to help and this is also a play plea from my side I think um Development Corporation is really about finding Solutions together it’s not about Aid and uh so please be our um yeah boter um ambassadors not to talk about um Peruvian um um Pathways for um cycling as in our national um national press but we really we need structures that enable um people to give their best and this is what we do and this is what an actors does and this is the yeah the way because we this is why we support an actors and this is why you all watching are here so thank you so much for participating and to beas in the end what is there to win for the teams oh well we have this year in total in Project funding and travel funding 50,500 years the first spot will be well will be chosen and selected in Asana at in active World Cup during our action with Africa challenge final and will win 10,000 in Project funding and we will be happy to invite the top six to dra and well what else we have the well that’s a step in between so all the project that win something or announc today we still need to pass an audit that we do in the upcoming month and then finally there’s another chance to win because our partner wo SE gave out excellence awards in the past two years already will be back and we will have them give out awards at an active World Cup so they will select their favorites from the entries that we have received and well so there’s more to come even well even further than what we present today perfect and we’re excited to find out who that will be but first we’d love to give you some impressions of how action with Africa has touch the lives of many students and the people empowered so see for yourself [Music] from [Music] [Music] hello there [Music] [Music] I hope many of you watching recognize your faces in this beautiful video but of course what you guys are waiting for is the announcement of the
