Here’s a poem I wrote about my stay in León, Spain:
Welcome, amigos, to León, Spain –
The land of TAPAS and BEER!
There’s 100 bars that all look the same,
But you won’t find food anywhere.
There’s the Mexican restaurant that doesn’t serve beans.
And the pizza place that doesn’t have cheese.
There’s the hamburger joint, but they’re all out of buns.
And the Italian eatery doesn’t open till one.
The vegan canteen is all out soy
And the bakery’s a bust cause there is no dough-boy.
There’s a pastry shop, but they’re all out of bread.
And the fruit stand is closed, cause the owners are dead.
If you want to drink beer, then Spain is the place.
Tapas are rampant, and you’ll love the taste!
But if you don’t like to drink, then you’ll find nothing here,
Cause León’s the place for TAPAS and BEER.
Kevin hurt his back… so we cycled 55 kilometers to seek refuge in the city of León, Spain. And once we got there, we discover that there was nothing to eat (unless, of course, we wanted tapas and beer).

yes so we’re back on the road again we just left avenues as Spain and we have about 15 kilometers to go today to the town of Leon we’ve got about 20 kilometers thus far it’s sunny out right now but it’s actually pretty cold and there is snow on the mountains to the north I can see them all over the mountains quite a bit of snow it’s cold we’re only eight kilometers from Lian Spain right now the road today has been completely flat which is great because Kevin’s back is still hurting him so it’s been a pretty easy today which is great eight kilometers I think we’re gonna go straight to the train station once we get into town Kevin’s thinking about jumping on the train here and going north to avi ATO aviato I keep calling it avocado Spain but I’ll be Auto Spain all right we made it to Leon we’re at the train station I’m gonna go in and ask about getting a ticket to Oviedo this hotel costs fifty euros for the night so 25 euros each it’s not too bad right in the center of lyon how are you feeling right now guys from Mariella 400 moderately difficult guys 350 not 450 350 we’ll call it 450 if you want yeah so we’re gonna be in this hotel for two nights and then the following on Friday morning we’re gonna jump on a train from here to a viedo Spain and then we’re going to stay with some of Kevin’s friends and a viedo for two or three nights and yeah so we got some rest days ahead of us which is nice I’m looking forward to it I know Kevin is and then we’ll have to decide what we do after that we just tried to go into the church but you have to pay 6 euros just to get in I’ve been to too many churches no thank you I just have found the holy cow ice-cream shop trying to convince Kevin to go inside the wrongful day you gonna get an Oscar yeah bring on Osprey NATO thank nibs yeah that’s good I am having a fruit party over here I got $20 of dried fruit mangoes lime pineapple and some strains other stuff cherries bananas and pineapple juice somewhat vegetarian salad with fish flavoring and I got this thing all right so let me just gripe about something because we just went to dinner we spent like an hour walking around Leon trying to find a place to eat I found a Mexican food place restaurant which I was super excited about they didn’t have beans no beans at a Mexican restaurant does that make any sense so we didn’t eat there then we walked around town trying to find any place that served food all we could find was beer and tapas tapas which is like every restaurant in all of Leon which I I mean I knew coming to Spain it was gonna be like this but I thought some place has got to be serving real food somewhere no I could not find any real food anywhere in Leon so I ended up going to this Turkish place which was pretty crappy and yeah but like as much as I like Europe there’s a lot of things to like one of the things I dislike about it is the lack of variety in food like you go to a certain place like Spain and there’s one type of food we were in Portugal last month and it was like one type of food seafood for example and nothing else no variety at all I come from California we’re in one shopping center you’ll have at least 12 different types of food from all around the world so it’s just really weird for me at least to have a whole city where every restaurant hundreds of restaurants are all serving the same thing it’s frustrating anyways that’s my gripe for the day yeah I don’t have anything else to say alright bye you
