Did you miss our webinar? No worries! Watch it back at your own pace and learn about our two programs “Spain by Train” and “Future Leaders”, with a very special Q&A with our wonderful alumni.
welcome everyone thank you so much for joining us today I I’m delighted to see everyone who came to the webinar on a Saturday so welcome welcome to the Spanish Gap year webinar today we’ll be presenting our two programs Spain by train and Future Leaders and I am very lucky to be joined by my dear colleague sagri today who is the program leader of spay my train I’m arancha Lopez the program director I’ll be speaking to you about future leaders and today is extra special because some of our wonderful alumni are joining us for the Q&A session so I’m going to hand it over to sagri who’s going to tell us all about SP my train thank you arancha well uh guys as AR just told you I’m sagri I’m the program leader of Spain my train we just finished like this uh the spring program really successful a lot of job but really worth it so what about Spain by train so basically Spain by train it’s a program that is mainly focused on Spanish culture and Spanish language however it’s also focused on like personal growth um soft and hard skills and basically like becoming more independent throughout those three months that we are together uh we do experiential learning so that means that we learn Spanish by doing different activities but we also offer like intensive options throughout the trade we we we’re so focused on sustainability that’s why we travel by train those three months we stay in sustainable hostels when we are cing together and we’re also aligned with the sustainab sustainable development goals of the UN so this is more or less our itinerary this is the fall itinerary okay so you guys are Le in Madrid but afterwards uh we’re headed to north we are head to S Sebastian this program is 12 week 12 weeks long so that means we’re staying three weeks in smaller cities like s Sebastian Salamanca and Granada and then we’re going to be spending one week in other in other places like Madrid Barcelona and one Adventure week in a which is actually like lots of fun um as I told you we guys arrive to Madrid then we head to San Sebastian afterwards we go to ASAS for our adventure week where we do surfing uh canyoning is my favorite hiking via ferat and we also cycle the Camino Santiago for three days then we head to Salamanca for three weeks Madrid a week another three weeks as well and then we go to Barcelona which is our final stop and then afterwards you guys for h f fly home sorry in San Sebastian salanka and Granada you guys will be staying with host families okay so you get you get like a full immersion get to get like the full Spanish culture and everything but when we are in studios when we Madrid and we were in Barcelona we’re all together so here you can see like some examples of what I’m talking about this is for example Us in austrias this last program just doing the Camino Santiago C it’s really beautiful it has like amazing Landscapes this is Granada where we were having like a cooking class we actually have cooking class in the three main cities of San Sebastian Granada and Salamanca okay we guys we have like a weekly cooking class because the idea guys is to like teach you how to cook how to like cook dishes for yourselves especially when you go up to college or whatever and like it’s basically Mediterranean diet as you guys know it’s really healthy so and then here’s an example of salanka where we show you like the culture here we’re visiting the Cathedral of salamangka with a beautiful landscapes and everything so that’s an example then this is s Sebastian s Sebastian is a coastal city so we do a lots of sports related to water and it’s really important uh here for example we’re doing surfing and then in b and Madrid we basically visit the cities but we also like for example in Madrid we have like a theater class which actually lots of fun so what’s more l a week in Spain by train so here for example we have like the schedule of this last program in Granada okay so you guys have like six hours of structor program a day so it’s like well balanced with your free time in case you want afterwards you have want to do like something on your own with your peers you want to go out to eat whatever you guys decide here for example I’m poting out at the onet to one meetings okay we have one to one meetings with me just to check on you how you guys are doing how you guys are adjusting you have any concerns whatever you guys need okay I’m over here and first there will be the they will be weekly but then as the time goes go by we just do them then like every two weeks more or less every so often we will be doing like full day trips on Saturdays okay so depending when we are we visited like different regions for example when we are in San Sebastian we go to visit France because it’s so close when we are in s Lanka we go to visit Portugal because it’s so close like we can we have the chance to visit like different countries as well uh we integrate like the Spanish language and culture so for example here you can see these These are examples of like experience learnings okay so for example we visit like the uh the cathedral and the Royal Chapel in granad and that’s everything Spanish we tell we tell you guys about the culture we talk about Spanish economics and yeah Spanish economics in in Spanish and then we go to visit different places so to example everything so that’s like the whole idea and the good class I was talking you about and here for example we have the Su projects and gaet activities so we do gaet activities which is actually really important okay so the whole idea is that each CER uh designs and creates and promotes an activity they want to do something they passionate about so for example we’ve had uh pudle puddle games uh we’ve had like car and recently we also have like a sh board competition which actually lots of fun and the idea is like to develop soft skills like for example communication uh leadership planification that’s like the whole deal we are as I told you guys we were really focused on like um s to self-development and self growth so we are really focused on heart and softt skills for example hard skills the main more are going to be budgeting shopping cooking and cleaning especially when we are all C living together okay that’s the whole idea C living together and navigation so like every time we go to a new city we do like a navigation session to how to find a map or like how to use a map and everything we encourage you guys to use Google Maps is your best friend here in Spain and Spanish language of course and then in terms of like soft skills we really focused on leadership and conflict resolution leadership this is for example like the ceret activity of ble I was talking I was telling you guys about uh communication collaboration peer support and healthy socializing so it’s really important for us all the thing related to group dynamics and decision makings resilience and learning when to ask for help so this is basically uh Spain by train okay and now I’m going to uh give arancha I’m going to let arancha continue if you have any questions about spin by train you can write those in the chat for the later Q&A okay so thank you sagri so much so um in sag’s last slide she spoke about soft skills and those don’t just apply to Spain by train we also develop those throughout the Future Leaders program we work a lot on leadership because of course we are working in teams to develop different business ideas and there are uh leaders captains in each team that rotate at different times uh the guys can speak to that later on as well and sometimes we have to work on conflict resolution as well within the teams when perhaps the decision making uh the decision that the group took perhaps isn’t your your favorite and you still have to roll with the group for that week and so on we work on communication from many different perspectives as well uh we we do a lot on public speaking when preparing for the pictures and the presentations that I’ll tell you about later on we have to draft emails and communicate with peers at work with supervisors at work as well and do so in a in a more formal formal register so we are developing those soft skills as well and we’ll talk about hard skills later on Future Leaders in contrast with Spain by train is about internship and Entrepreneurship so gaining real work experience and developing entrepreneurial skills there is an element to Spanish language as well but not as much as there would be in Spain by train our itinery is a bit more simple than that of Spain by train we don’t travel as much as a part of the program we do the first month in Madrid that’s for four weeks it’s also a 12we program so for the last eight weeks we move to Barcelona uh but those are the main two cities that we are going to be living in I’m going to show you the structure of what a week in Madrid looks like and then we’ll we’ll go see what a week in Barcelona looks like you land in Madrid and this is your launching part your preparation month so it’s a bit of a softer Landing you’re going to be living in a host family and their intention to to allow you to live with a local host family is to be immersed in the language first and foremost whether you’re a beginner or a more advanced Spanish speaker and to give you that extra support if you need anything you you have in that closer link with your host family uh the meals breakfast and dinner are done at home as well and you have the opportunity of uh observing what uh what life is like with a Spanish family and what their routine is about so you are doing a lot of Spanish learning in the mornings and this is Monday to Friday quite intensively from 9:30 a.m. until 1: p.m. it’s all about Spanish class you are going to be in a very Central School with all the different levels open to you so whether you are a complete beginner or very Advanced speaker you’ll have you’ll be integrated in the right class for you and then you have four afternoons in the week because Friday afternoon is uh is off you get to start traveling on Friday so out of those Monday Tuesday and Thursday is for entrepreneurship and we are doing two our sessions of Entrepreneurship and one day per week on Wednesdays for cultural activities that could be like you see on screen a museum like the rain of Sophia for Modern Arts followed by an urban art tour in lavs or it could be a cooking class it could be a dance class the idea is to show you a little bit of the culture which you’ll be doing in your free time as well but to have that structured in the program too and then you have the option of joining the uh cultural activity schedule of of the school which is open to all of you guys so you may want to go on a day trip with your peers from class or go to an organized language exchange which uh a lot of the people here today very much valued and they can speak to that later on as well so in contrast with Spain by train you see it’s a it’s a structured program but it has more free time embedded so you are free from Friday at lunchtime until Monday morning that means that you can stay in the city and explore you can go travel within Spain but you can also go travel within Europe and some of the people uh in the groups this spring did that some went to France some went to Seva alantes and Sebastian they’ll tell you all about that so we do this for four weeks and the entrepreneurship program includes some Career Development to get you ready for your internship in Barcelona it includes um a business development toolkit which could be on um marketing and sales and we do a bookup at the end of the four weeks which is all in fact about marketing and sales and developing uh a digital marketing strategy for an NGO that we partner with and an actual imperson sales strategy which we do at a local market then we do assessment and then we move to Barcelona so once we arrive in Barcelona we do a days induction you are settled into your dorms so we are moving from a Homestay context to a more independent living context where you are all living in the same dorm building within a University campus but you all have your own private room and Suite and you take your meals in the common areas in the cafeteria downstairs again breakfast and dinner so that you have that freedom at lunchtime to eat with your colleagues go to your own s in the park and then return in the afternoon for the two-hour session entrepreneur nship sessions this again is Monday Wednesday and Thursday for two hours so Mondays you are with your mentors online and on W Wednesdays and Thursdays you are in person on site with your coach who will help you develop your business ideas and guide you in the process of how to bring them uh bring them along so uh Tuesdays are for Spanish it’s your longer day if you will because Spanish lessons are three hours as as opposed to two and it’s a maintenance lesson as we call it you are no longer doing those intensive Spanish lessons as you did in Madrid because you’re working you’re busy working some of you might be using your Spanish at work some of you may not if you don’t have um a profession level of Spanish but you do have that maintenance Spanish class and we’re on to Fridays once once more where you are free from lunchtime and you can continue to travel um around Barcelona to galz costaa the beautiful spots uh or further a field if you wish on to some of the highlights that gappers mentioned in their evaluation forms free time was one of the things that they say they appreciated because this spring was our pilot program for Future Leaders and therefore we started with very intensive schedules where we were doing three our entrepreneurship sessions throughout the first month and we sat down together and we spoke about whether it would be better to drop to two-hour sessions we agreed to try it and it worked out really well because everyone was working just as efficiently if not more because they had um more energy they were simply less tired and they had that extra hour in the day to go to the gym or meet friends or go explore a place in Bara that they hadn’t seen before so that was uh something that we have improved for uh programs going forward working with their mentors came up in absolutely every form we we work with very experienced entrepreneurs who guide the the teams throughout their process and gappers really really valued them they’re from different countries they have different cultural backgrounds and we think that it was a very enriching opportunity with for them all and then of course the the pitches that they got to do in front of a panel of entrepreneurs and investors you see Charlie here one of our alumni who will be joining the Q&A later on um and tied to this we’re on to our hard skills that we develop because another thing that everyone highly valued was the development of an international Network so from week one we are networking and trying to make everyone aware that that is what they are doing because when they’re showing up to activities and they’re participating and they’re they are working with mentors who are really well connected in their business world with facilitators with investors when we are in Barcelona we have some professors from International universities doing Special sessions with us and we build a LinkedIn page together uh one for each of the gappers Natalia guides them on that so that we can start interacting on LinkedIn and doing little posts adding everyone who works in your company where you’re interning adding your peers who might be going to the same University yes yourself uh adding us as a team who can connect you with previous alumni sorry with alumni who might already be graduating and have an extensive network in the US or abroad so building that network from so early on uh seem to be a huge uh asset for everyone Charlie I’m really sorry could you mute your mic I’m so sorry there’s a little bit of no coming on oh sorry I was I didn’t that’s fine no worries thank you so much the main hard scale throughout entrepreneurship and internship is building up your resume really and getting ready for professional opportunities as well as earning college credit if this is of interest to you this is from an American University and of course developing your Intercultural competence this is not just from the cultural activities that we organize or the cultural experiences that you might have in your free time it’s also cultural localization and maybe suffering a little bit of culture shock in the home state or in your host company because culturally we work very differently and there are different expectations and still learning from it and still succeeding in that okay so uh we are going to leave this slide on in case anyone would like to check out our social media channels and connect find out more you’ll see a lot of reviews uh you’ll see a lot of footage from our activities and there’s our website as well spanishap year.com with further information on on how to apply on our team um you can connect with us you can book a a one-on-one call via the website thank you all so much for coming and for listening in and if you would like to turn on your cameras we’ll open the floor to questions we’re going to start with questions for stain by train and then follow with questions for Future Leaders if everyone is okay with that and sag I believe wanted to start yeah so my alumni here uh from Spain by train I wanted to ask you uh what was your biggest learning throughout these three months in Spain yeah I would say there’s a whole different array of amazing skills that you learn we learn the difference between hard skills and soft skills um in both programs but for Spain by train um we delve into the language and culture and it’s like a full immersion because when we’re staying in the smaller cities um we’re staying with host families um and the majority of them don’t know any English and so you’re kind of forced to learn this language and it’s really it’s incredible so I would say the biggest skills for me were definitely language but also flexibility friendship CU you’re traveling every two to three weeks and so you kind of have to be um very flexible and um easygoing and just open to anything that comes up so I would say flexibility and adaptability are huge um but the friendships you make along the way are also amazing because you’re going through great things together and some difficult more difficult things together and so you really um get to know these people super well totally anyone else from Spain by train who wants to say something wants to add something to what Fiona just said I think I learned a lot about Spain itself I before going there I didn’t really realize how unique every region is and how many different different like I don’t know how many cultural differences there are just between the North and the South so I learned a lot about that and about Spanish history which isn’t really what I came for but it was something that I really enjoyed that’s true look us teach a lot of Spanish history so true okay and now if anybody wants to ask any questions to our alumni about um Spain by train floor is yours yeah I’d like to know a little bit more um fion and Annie if you could talk a little bit more about your host family experiences just a little bit more of a deeper dive maybe give some examples of things that you might have done or how you connected with them or if you connected with them as much as you thought you were going to just a little bit more about the host family experience yeah for sure um for me so we’re GNA you have three different host families one in Granada one in Salomon and then one in St Sebastian and it was really funny all three of mine happened to be um like older ladies um living alone um but they were so kind so welcoming um I think it’s a great experience because they cook for you and they just want to open their homes to you um I know a few other people on the program had um families with kids and with animals so it’s really it’s different for everybody but um personally it was amazing to feel so welcomed into their home yeah I’d like sorry oh yeah just different my my host families were much younger young families and my last one actually had two very young twins so it was definitely a very different experience it was nice you got to interact help take care of like the kids and you also got to like they would ask me to play board games all the time and soccer and just other random stuff so just it was a great time just like really learn the culture and like go through like the daily like Young household activities and get to see it firsthand I would say I had a more similar experience to Fiona my first post family was a single mother and her daughter who was my age so that was really great she was able to introduce us to all her friends and she knew all the fun places to go so that was great and then my second one was a mother an older grandmother I guess and and she was really welcoming she took me and one of my friends to a fashion show that I would have never known about had it not been for her and I got to have a really cool experience and then my last one was also a single mother and yeah both of them were just so warm and welcoming and always wanting to make sure you had the best experience possible recommending places to go and new activities thank you that helps any more questions about Spain by train anybody any questions regarding the programs activities the language experience yeah you could speak a little bit more about the language you know everyone’s coming in I’m assuming at different levels of their Spanish proficiency and and with SP by train with the group size um how did you know was it more one-on-one tutoring if everyone had different levels or was it more of a group experience um how did you navigate the different levels of proficiency with the classes yeah you’re completely right in that in the group everybody kind of came in at a completely different skill level um but it kind of it depended on where we were so when we were in Granada we got the choice between experiential learning and intensive learning and all of us wanted to do experiential so basically um we were split um into smaller groups um just in our program just the six of us um into three different levels of Spanish and or two different levels of Spanish and sagre taught one group and we had a lovely teacher um Juan Lise who taught the other group and so basically how it worked was we would do um like sit down more specific specific like his Spanish history and Spanish language and then we would actually go out into the City and see the things we were learning about in the history um in Salam monka and um San Sebastian we did intensive learning so we actually worked with another school that um has students from all over the world and so that was also a a really cool experience getting to meet people from all different ages and um from all over the world to learn Spanish so a little bit different RJ Fiona do would you like to add something to what Fiona just said I can add in um our group had a very different like ends of the spectrum one of my friends came in and he had never spoken Spanish before like no High School classes no knowledge of Spanish and then other people spoke really well there was people in between um and it really worked out for everybody I know the kid who didn’t speak any Spanish learned a lot it was really motivated he went home and continued speaking Spanish but everyone was divided up really well and you never felt like a class was too hard or too easy okay any more questions about a Spain by terrain anybody for our fellow Alum Maria if your still there um Maria is coming to Spain by train in the fall and teach in the spring so it’d be great to have some questions from you since it’s it’s already upcoming right do you have any more practical questions about how to prepare for the trip or anything like that yeah um maybe what were some things that you ended up needing or wanting while in Sp by train that you wish you could have packed I guess or knew about um I guess the like probably the one of the more important things to pack which is like you didn’t think you need was or for me I thought the most important thing it was a good was an umbrella which I didn’t pack which a buy because it rained a lot and it was definitely came in handy to have an umbrella to keep me dry yeah I agree also um I mean it’s it’s kind of easy to guess but um any kind of like medication you would think you would need just to be prepared and um yeah umbr umbrella is a great thing too um you never know what the weather’s going to be like apparently it’s usually usually not super rainy but when we went it was and so just being prepared for all all types of weather especially because we’re moving from north to south um like all over the country so it really varies and to add to that if I could um yes absolutely Maria especially the north can be quite rainy uh you you can always buy an umbrella when you’re over here if it doesn’t fit in your suitcase and with medication Fiona is right it’s best to bring your own we explain and all of that in the uh checklist that we will send and the handbook but to have your own is good then you can always go to the doctor get a prescription go to the pharmacy but uh the medications might have a different name or a different brand and you might feel more comfortable with something that you already know from home Annie would you like to add oop sorry um oh sorry I would add in that like a really good suitcase um or luggage that you know everything is going to fit in I think it’s so much better for me I had like two suitcases and I could fit everything very comfortably in I think that was a lot better than some people who were stuffing everything into one suitcase some people there broke like the wheels broke or it just completely broke because it couldn’t fit everything in so really good luggage and if you overpack two instead of one super should we move to Future Leaders with your questions if you’d like to start Maria with any questions for your screen program for Future Leaders um I guess I was also kind of wondering about the time period between them and like organizing other activities between them either in Spain or in other places I guess how that would work and that’s not an official part of program but I can speak to that at the end but would anyone like to tell Maria what they did between their H and spring programs we know that claraa for instance is she over here I’m not sure no claraa hasn’t popped in yet but she came into Spain a bit earlier to practice her Spanish so she got a student a study VIs so that she could come in in January and she was here from January until March when the program started but what else you guys what did you do in between your fall and spring um sorry my dog and dad just came back weone um between my um it’s okay but it’s [Laughter] recorded um you’re okay Kylie yeah between my fall and spring program I know well I know a lot of people on the program um it ended up going and traveling in between because they had a Visa that allowed them to do that or maybe they just went somewhere outside of Europe um like to somewhere in Latin America or um some people I think also did like other internship programs in between um for me personally I worked in between um and I know that a couple other people probably did that as well so it kind of varied throughout um I did something like I guess a little bit in between so I wasn’t I was on a structured program in South America in the fall and then I did Future Leaders in the spring in between that I did a work Exchange in Chile so I was abroad but I was working for my room and board um and just getting work experience and being a bit more settled than like programs where you’re moving around and having like a ton of activities and a ton going on and I it helped with my Spanish before as well I was pretty similar I also did another program in the fall and then um just from I had about three months between the program so I just pretty much worked and helped around around the house thank you um between my fall and spring I went to London with friends I had made from Spain by train one of them lived in London so we all went there and there’s like the 90 days Europe visa for traveling in England and Great Britain is the exception so we were able to go to London and extend our 90 days in Europe and that was really fun to continue with the group but not be on the program does that help Maria yeah definitely thank you some food for okay um staca did you have any questions about Future Leaders since it was our pilot program this spring yeah um I would say um some of the students that I’ve worked with and are thinking of for next year are um you know um wanting to know with the age so this so there’s I know there’s a partnership with another internship organization and there’s some Sometimes some integration with that organ organization and some of these students are more like juniors in college and some of the Gaper students are right out of high school and just curious on how the the Dynamics like was there much socialization going on with the other interns um from the other groups um or did you find that most of the future leader students kind of stuck together or how did that typically work with the other interns um there was totally a mix so definitely because the Future Leaders like we spend a month in Madrid with just our group there’s obviously like a bond before but for me personally I had a ton of friends who were just with absolute internship I think for some people they’re working in the same companies so they’re actually co-workers between absolute internship and Future Leaders I know Kylie can probably talk about that um so that’s really nice there were so I’m 18 I was like young of just out of high school and there were people in the other group who were as old as like 24 25 and I was friends with them and it was really like not notable at all I think just because we were all doing the exact same thing even at different stages in life like we were living the same place and doing the same internships it was not noticeable it was a pretty smooth integration and so it’s nice to have the Future Leaders group that as kind of like a rock that you’re spending a lot of time with and a lot of classes with and you know before but I found it really nice to have a larger group and really the whole building to meet with and just have more people to hang out with yeah and Owen and Olie aren’t here today but they are in college already so there was uh there were two three three people who were already in college within the Future Leaders group yeah um I can speak for that as well I also like Grace um I had about three other interns from absolute internship who were um at my work and I personally think that I got really close to them and I would say that um I spent probably just as much time or maybe more at some point point with the absolute internship kids um maybe just because of that and because of the work and um in the second half in Barcelona there was just a lot of opportunities for us to be together but that that isn’t to say that I was separated from the main group at all because we definitely still spent a lot of time together both through the internships or I mean not the internships the entrepreneurship and just sort of hanging out outside of program obviously too that’s helpful did you find on the weekends did you find yourself traveling more within Spain or did many students decide to go outside of Spain on the weekends and travel um many students um definitely decided to go outside of Spain I personally didn’t I stayed within Spain just because um uh originally that was my plan to travel outside of Spain but then I ended up feeling like there was so much to see in Spain that I didn’t want to pass any of that up um but yes many students stud I know some made it out to London and um I think Owen might have made it out to oh gosh I’m forgetting well he he was in Paris for a second and maybe in Dubai I I don’t quite remember but no he he went to Budapest Budapest right and Asian was in France I think yes Maria do you have an idea of what industry you’d like to intern in oh yeah um oh I was thinking about something in politics or law or business or journalism I know it’s more difficult for law in politics so I was thinking business or journalism instead um but I also had kind of a question it’s not that important um but about the because you’re living in the dorms at the University of Granada I think um so do you interact with any of the students there how does that work or is it like a separate kind of call I guess sorry off topic yeah it’s the University of Barcelona and that’s right right in Alo you guys you were living with students from the University um yeah I actually loved that part I met a bunch of girls who went to the University of Barcelona um and I would have dinner with them sometimes and like hang out with them occasionally you usually speaking Spanish a lot of almost all of them spoke English too so like you shouldn’t feel that you’re not able to make friends in like who are at University in that City if you don’t speak good Spanish but for me I just it was a really good low stakes opportunity to practice um and they were just so nice and friendly and I just really liked meeting like a broader circle circle of people so it’s totally possible super easy um at least I know also in the building that we lived in there were people who were like event organizers and so they would do like organized nights out or activities organized by the building or the students for like the entire residence so there were bonding activities that make it super easy to all meet each other thank you and can one of you guys I’m not sure if Charlie’s back I think he is um can you tell us a little bit about what you did in your internship Charlie and well Grace and Kylie you too can you tell us about what industries you entering in and what the experience was like yeah I uh I am back I can I can answer a little bit about that so my company was a jewelry company um and it was just a woman who was like a designer with a vision she would just she kind of did everything herself so it was me working with her and um she didn’t have a ton of info or experience and like SEO and she needed some help finding inspiration for different things like photo shoots and um like inspiring jewelry design so I I kind of was Hands-On with everything and I I’m really interested in jewelry design and fashion design in general so I I was kind of in the whole experience I um I helped her with some of her jewelry designs she’d show me like pieces she’d be working on and asked for um advice with the design and she I remember one time she asked me to find like inspiration for one of her photo shoots um that she had coming up and so yeah it was it was just like a really cool experience and it it did give me the experience in the business side of like what a jewelry company actually would be as well as the jewelry design itself thank you Charlie Grace Kylie um I worked in sustainability my internship was actually with a very very small company and organization which I loved so it was called zero was Barcelona they it was I worked directly under the founder because they really only had a group of about five people and so they ran workshops and different classes and Hands-On activities for people basically just the Barcelona Community to live a more sustainable life lifestyle and they were also very focused on making their workshops accessible to people with disabilities which was super cool um and I’ve been involved in sustainability stuff during high school it’s what I plan to study in college so I’m really interested in it but doing it in a different country in a different language I learned just so much about like different policy and different countries and all of it on a global level I loved it it was really helpful um so I also technically worked for sustain the ility based company they were sort of like they did a couple of different things um but predominantly uh they did sustainability Consulting so they would basically just I think help other companies sort of get um EU funds just for sustainability or environmental based measures I wasn’t really involved in that process because quite frankly my Spanish wasn’t good enough to keep up um with some of the companies that they were talking to but but where I helped was sort of they also had um sort of like an online journal or magazine that they would post um new environmental related content to or like new updates um I know I like remember posting articles about like new forms of energy being used or sort of just like General like health information um so for a lot of time there my job was sort of social media management um I was posting they were definitely a smaller company I was posting to their Tik Tok and Instagram sort of about events they’re going to and um also just the articles that they have on their magazine um I know that there was a couple of like conferences slash conventions um related to sustainability in Barcelona that I would be brought along to on some of my work days and we would take videos or pictures and sort of just like listen along and then conduct interviews afterwards with um some of the members of those like conferences and we would um towards the end I sort of got switched off of social media and I was working um it was sort of like a paper that was going to be published on their magazine relating to Urban mobility in Barcelona and I know some of my other interns um their entire time were actually working on papers there rather than working on sustainability so sort of changed based on you know what you sort of wanted to pitch in on or what you had interest in they were kind of sort of able to swap things around thank you so much you guys thank you any questions from you guys on the business side of things entrepreneurship or to wrap it up in general spay by train Future Leaders all together I do have a questions for our for alumni about spin by train guys something that M it’s really important but I want you to tell me how was coing all of you together yeah it was definitely um a different experience than personally I’ve ever had but if you’ve ever done like summer camp um staying like with a group of people um that’s great to have beforehand but um I think personally for our group it was a really good Dynamic you just have to become more aware of um how you live and um how to advocate for yourself um in a way that is polite and um respectful of others I think it’s a really great experience to have before going into college because oftentimes you will be co-living with other people so um I think it’s a great great experience great Anie RJ you want to share your thoughts yeah sorry RJ sorry I agree with Fiona completely it’s um it’s also it’s like probably the best way to get to know everyone in your group because you’re with them basically all day every day you live with them and it really helps you work with problem management because when you’re with someone all day you can’t be mad at them and there’s like you know you get tired and people get agitated at times but you really get to know each other and you really really end up bonding just from all the co- living an how about you um I would say yeah co- loving was definitely one of the highlights of my experience I loved when we were all in a hostel together talking like on our last week in Barcelona every person was in one room and that was one of like the funnest parts of the trip so I think co- living was really good I there could definitely be challenges but I really couldn’t think of any for us yeah it’s true super any other questions you guys just know that if questions are coming to my now but we hang up and you remember something or in a couple of days you do have questions you can email us on info spam.com you can email sagri sagario spam.com and we can schedule a call um yeah through the website you can schedule a oneon-one if you wish in the apply button you can book a a call with either of us and we’re always delighted to hear from you great wonderful I love yeah I love hearing about um everyone’s story from the alumni that’s super helpful thank you so much stasa well in that case thank you all so much for coming thank you thank you truly we really appreciate your time on a Saturday and we hope to see you all very soon have a nice weekend thank thank you so much have a good see you soon bye bye
