Hey everyone, ive got this bike off marketplace for pretty cheap, i really like how it looks and i would like to turn it into a nice ride in the city, just to go from home to work and such.
i cleaned it out a bit, changed bar tape and rode it a bit in the city.

Now the only major problems are tired and wheels, which will probably need to be changed soon, but most important THE GEARS

so the rear derailleur seems to not work properly? by shifting on the right lever, it always stays on the smallest chain cog, and it makes it impossible to climb uphill, even when i try to manually move the chain to the 4th or 5th, it goes back to the first, while for the front derailleur, there's no way to move it to the bigger cog, there's something that literally doesn't let the chain go on it.

how could i fix it? is there any way, and how much would they charge me to fix that?
thanks for help.

i will leave some photos

Tighten the wing nut on the rear shifter. It sounds like it’s not tight enough to provide enough friction against the pull of the derailleur spring.

The front derailleur limit screws might not be adjusted properly. Loosen the high limit screw a turn it two and see if that fixes the issue. If not, the cable might be too tight. See if there is a barrel adjuster and loosen that a turn.

I wouldn’t put too much money into it. It’s not a bad bike, but it is an old fairly low end one, so you really don’t want to put more money than it’s worth. The frame looks in good condition, you need a new chain, hopefully you can save the freewheel, but that might need to be replaced too.
